I just called Dish to kvetch - they gave me 3 free months of Cinemax and said they should have TCM back in a month. I don't know anything about Cinemax, I just told her I like the older, classic movies...........they are going to be getting a lot of complaints.

TCM has a number on their site to call... I didn't realize that DISH had dropped it until I went to their ON DEMAND to finish watching a movie that I started last night. Smiley Sad

Edna Mae Oliver!!!! / I need her. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

ETA: Cinemax? you should have held out for Showtime.

Wasn't she a hoot in that "Jury" movie yesterday? TCM is my favorite channel.

Good series on Cinemax called The Knick. It is set in a hospital in NYC around 1900 with doctors improvising experimental procedures. Clive Owens stars and fair warning, cocaine use and nudity.

One of my favorite channels, Turner Classic Movies, isn't on my Dish anymore.....I might be pulling it today and remarrying my cable company.

Be sure to see if you have a contract agreement first.

I love TCM, love the old black and whites. Love the little trivia tidbits they give you before and after the movie airs. Ben Mankiewicz is my fave!!!

Thanks John....my contract was up last March, so I'm good with that one. I am going to hold off and see if it returns......the last thing I really want to do is go back to cable.

I went through a similar decision a few months back when Dish was having problems with one channel - so I switched providers. Big mistake - after a few weeks Dish back to normal and my new provider just was not good - so after a while I switched again back to Dish and learned my lesson. Stay with it it will work put.

I'm not familar with any of those channels, that's why I told her what I like. I suspect they don't have any channel that would suit me in the same way TCM does.

The series someone mentioned on Cinemax, The Knick, I wouldn't watch that.....I hope they get TCM back.

hulagirl,

Have you went to this Dish website yet? If not you might go there and read all the channels that were dropped because of a Turner Network Contract. Lost a couple more than I usually have a show or 2 that I DVR for certain shows. I will leave the link below so you can click here and go there to read the info.
