Nicholas . . .

Dear friends,

I know that reading this kind of post is very difficult for many of us, who regularly participate in the pet forum discussions. During the past nine months, I've authored several posts about Nicholas, the buff cocker spaniel, and his battle with lymphoma. I have also posted, many times, about how surprised I was to receive so much support, sound advice, and sincere compassion through a tremendous number of replies from people I'd never met.

Until the day I received the news about Nicholas, I hadn't posted very much on this forum and felt a bit guilty about just jumping in with a pet crisis. But so many of you responded to me as if I'd been a regular and I thank each of you for welcoming me so quickly.

Because I've come to "know" many of you -- as much as is possible without meeting face to face -- I need to post the following message of closure.

I may time-out, so I'm going to continue in my next post . . .
