This is from my hometown newspaper.

Other Times... 100 years ago... 1914

100 YEARS - 1914

A daring attempt of a robbery was frustrated on Wednesday afternoon at Norfolk by the courage and quickness of Mrs. John Pierce, a resident of that section, who resorted to pioneer methods in disposing of the robber.

She had sent her nephew to a near-by store for several articles and the boy used his wheel to make the trip. Mrs. Pierce happened to glance out of the window and saw a man sneaking up the lawn. The man jumped on the bicycle and started away. Mrs. Pierce then ran in the house and returned with a loaded shotgun, which she placed at the man’s head and ordered him to “get.”

Hahaha .... It's too bad that doesn't work today. Now, they point back and fire and Mrs. John would have her own name mentioned.

Fate whispers to her, "You cannot withstand the storm." She whispers back, "I am the storm."

Nowadays the robber would sue her for violating his civil rights.
