I saw a report on Fox News this morning about how parents should read their children the classics instead of the Little Golden Books. Apparently, there are actually children's versions of books like Pride and Prejudice and Moby Di*k, Anne of Green Gables, etc.
I remember turning five in September and being put in first grade instead of kindergarten because I could read. I have a memory of the teacher going around the classroom and making everyone read a few pages of "Di*k and Jane." I was a shy child, but I can remember when it came to my turn to read I said: "See Di*k run...Di*k can run...run Di*k run...run, run, run....(and then I said) This is so boring!"
I don't know if they are still using Di*k and Jane in schools anymore, but I definitely agree that reading classic stories would be a little more educational than Di*k and Jane.
Interesting...What do you think?
