New iPhone...no need to get 12

My 6s iphone died...Apple has an iphone SE...it runs around 350

It is the same size as my 6s...just doesnt have all the bells and whisles that the iphone12 has

Still has apps, camera etc...all the necessary

My carrier mailed me the iphone, and I did the transfer myself...using their webpage..There is a phone number to call for assistance. NO CONTACT..loved that

nice to see apple offer lower cost options...couldnt see paying over 1000 for a new oone..

w iPhone...no need to get 12

I completely agree about $1000+ phones but there are great options that aren't Apple.  Recently DH and I upgraded our phones; he got a Samsung S50 (under $600) and I got a Samsung S20 (lowest is currently $99). We are Verizon customers but bought our phones from Amazon (we let them set up @$20 ).

Re: New iPhone...no need to get 12

@ProudMa ---I just got a new iphone SE 2nd gen and I love it. Had a moto 5g for a few years but it started to give me problems. I don't need bells or whistles on my phone as I do just the basics. My daughters life is on her phone--- I have a couple ipads  that I love so the switch to an iphone was easy. Paid $399 thru the Apple store. The switch over from my moto to new phone was done online and with no problem---

Re: New iPhone...no need to get 12

During the hard shut down earlier this spring we had to replace my husband's cell phone since it just decided to quite, period.  Of course it was years and years old.

We purchased the I-phone SE and back then it cost less.  They may have been running specials too because business was being hit by the shutdown.  Our local AT&T store delivered the phone  in person, we set  his old outdated phone on the step when the guy arrived,  he went to the truck and set it all up & transferred all the data.

When he finished he sent a text message to me, that he would be sitting the new phone in the box on the step, return to his truck, and wait for us to get it off the step.  He also provided the phone had been cleaned with x, y, and z as per their covid protocols at the time.  When DH opened the door and retrieved the phone, the guy waved and backed out of the driveway.

It was very easy!  In the meantime, DH is very happy with his phone so that is important as well.  lol

@wagirl @ProudMa @pitdakota  This is good to know.  I have an Iphone 6s, too, and if it goes out the SE sounds like a good fit for me.  I'm very happy with the size of my 6s and really don't need any new features. Hopefully I won't need this information for a while, but I'll definitely keep it in mind.  Thanks.

Just remember if you buy an older phone that Apple stops updating older phones. If that doesn't matter to you go for it.

@shoesnbags, when I called our local AT&T store to discuss new phones, I told the guy we were "older" lol, and didn't care about all the new bells and whistles.  Husband just wanted a phone that he could use for calls, text, and some basic apps.  The guy told me this is the phone that Apple brought out just for that group of customers, which is why we went for it....along with the fact it was going to be considerably less than other phones, including androids.   At least with their special at the time.

@pitdakota

That's exactly why I bought one too!

@Meowingkitty   The SE that they are discussing is not an older phone.  It was released at the same time the 11 was released, so it's fairly new.  It just doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the newer ones do.

Re: New iPhone...no need to get 12

Question about the SE.

I have two phones - my personal iPhone, in which I want the best, and my work iPhone, which I can't even tell you how old it is.  Maybe a 6, but wouldn't surprise me if a 5.  Anyways, as much as I love MY phone, I prefer making phone calls on the smaller work phone.  When I hold the larger phone up to my ear, weird things happen (apps get clicked, once I dialed my old boss to merge my call, etc) The smaller, old phone doesn't do that.

When I need to eventually replace my work phone, I plan to get the less expensive, smaller SE, but I just wonder what it's like to actually make phone calls on it? Any weird issues?  Thank you!
