For all of you that shop at qvc- did you know that they have been collecting sales tax on clothing that has no sales tax. Since April 1, 2012 NY state does not have any tax on item of clothing or shoes under $110.00. Not the total order- each item in the order - the total cost does not matter. When I called QVC "Customer Service?" to inform that what they are doing is not legal. They told me to fax corporate with my order number. They don't need my order to stop a policy that is incorrect The person at HSN said they would send an email to their head office. It is QVC's mistake and they should correct it If you live in NY State you have overpaid everytime to ordered clothing - Call Customer Service and complain

Re: New York State Sales Tax

Good luck! Be sure to report back and let know what happened.

editted to add: Just looked this up online. It was effective 2/1/14; so might have been re-authorized then. You are right!

Re: New York State Sales Tax

My state taxes ALL QVC purchases, & they even collect tax on the shipping cost.

Re: New York State Sales Tax

That's one reason why we moved from NYS to NH. No sales tax here and a population opposed to any sales tax in the future.

Re: New York State Sales Tax

New York state doesn't have sales tax on clothing, but many cities/counties do.

Re: New York State Sales Tax

I just checked the last couple of clothing items I purchased that were less than 110.

Sales tax in the area I live in new york consists of state sales tax (4%) and local county sales tax (4%) I paid 4% sales tax - local sales tax still is assessed on all clothing items.

So they didn't collect the state sales tax only the local tax.
