Re: New Trend Retailers charging return fees

[ Edited ]

I detest returning. For me it is a hassle. It's the printing of the darn label. Wrapping them up, and finding someone to return to Shipper.  I have 2 returns to go  to Nordie, they have been sitting here for weeks in original bag and box. I usually never return. I'd rather gift, donate that return. But this return is about 180., so I must. Funny, I ordered same Zella pants I have been wearing for years.  These have to me mismarked.  I wear M, always.  These are like extra large ....gigantic,!    Sigh. I am the largest female in this family so no passing down.

Nordies doesn't  Charge for returns. Not to say, they won't.   But most every place I shop has FREE SHIPPING  but 2 do charge for returns, ranging from 5.50 to about 9.95.  Unless you exchange.  Some don't even deal with exchanges.  You have to send back, and reorder

Macy's returns by mail are free for their rewards members. Anyone can return in store to Macy's without paying a fee. I only order clothing online when there is a B&M store in my area.

Re: New Trend Retailers charging return fees

I have always said that everyone at some point, hopefully sooner than later, should wait tables and work retail.

Having done both in my youth, then worked for a retail giant (I worked behind the scenes in HR) who at one point, took everything back with or without a receipt.

I can tell you that people are bad shoppers, sloppy pigs. thieves and con artists. The rest of the good honest public pay for their misdeeds. The company I worked for, stopped reckless returns years ago by asking people for their receipts within a certain time frame or, no return.

Profits soared.

Retailers need to do what their business dictates or they end up out of business. The public needs to follow the rules or risk not getting their return handled as they wish.

Re: New Trend Retailers charging return fees

It was bound to happen.  This is why I refuse to purchase from anyone that I have to pay return shipping costs.  I pretty much stick to retailers that have local shop to return to. I guess that's why I have shyed away from QVC purchases over past two years.  Cost of return erases any savings.  I tended to keep items that did not look good on or fit just right, and that was silly.
