I can't remember the last time I returned something by mail. Besides QVC.

I rarely return items...usually it is any home decor that may arrive damaged or poor quality/defective.
When it comes to buying clothes, most times if I order more than one size, I have no problem paying for the return shipping fees for one of them because it is RARE. For 95% of the time, I have no problem ordering the right size for me.
The last time I ordered 2 different sizes for a garment was Mally's cardigan. I kept the XS and returned the S.
Sometimes when I order 2 sizes, I will return one for another color in the size that fits me best. By doing so, as most folks know, it then waives the return S&H fees. ![]()
When I order more than one color of a garment, it's because I want them...LOL

If you return by mail not if you take it back to the store.

Well, this is interesting ...
I recently purchased two fleece jackets from Macy's on a gift card, purchased online.
One was Macy's, and the other was Lands' End, and came separately.
I just returned the Lands End jacket via UPS return label, and can't wait to see how LE processes the refund.

At one time we had a lovely ladies clothing shop in our neighborhood, always busy and then all of a sudden they closed, I asked the owner why and she said, way too many returns, we are losing more than we make.

Its not a new trend some places have done it for years. I have read several articles that returns are a huge problem for retailers, so I would imagine that to help cut down on the number of returns (which requires extra manpower) charging for the privilege will become a norm.
Amazon quit their try it on and keep what you like and return the rest because people were using that as a try on clothes at home for sizing and then would return all of them.
I think the number of posters on here that have said oh well I can always return it is shocking to me. Put that on a grand scale of millions must be over whelming.

I guess the stores are getting tired of people ordering multiple sizes and/or colors of the same thing to see if something works. But some of these return fees seem like a lot. It is often difficult to ascertain what something will look like from seeing it on-line or whether it will fit, but then some take advantage of this and make it harder for others. Makes you not want to order on-line as much, that's for sure.

@skatting44 Thanks for this news, & list/prices, etc
QUESTION:
(Is this list for return items, that were (Bought Online, Returned Online) only items??
~~~~~
In my lifetime, I've rarely, rarely returned items. I just dont! But I mostly was able to try them on at the B&M store. Or, often try to make them work, as a garment for myself, or, otherwise, then, donate them to a Thrift Store, if ordered online, & just wont work well for me
I never considered returning the ill fitting, or wrong color, or crazy sizing clothing to be "abuse," --- esp with a lot of clothing coming from cultures whose sizes vary such much more than USA cultural sizing seem to, like the ole, ole "Made in China" garments of old. I often steered clear of such items, esp if I knew from where they were made. Or reviews presented sizing warnings.
I'd heard of ppl that seemed to intentionally take such advantage of clothing retailers, by intentionally wearing an item, while also, intending to return said item.. I thought it was perhaps "off the wall" rare for ppl like this to do so??? Maybe, living in my own "la la land" where such ppl are rare?
On the local news last night they did a piece on the robots and AI processing returns from "Happy Returns". This is used by Lands End, UPS, and apparently a lot of companies. I believe they said returns might account for some stupid amount like $850 BILLION for retailers for the year 2025.
The % returned online shopping is extremely high therefore why companies have different practices for returns bought in the store vs online. That amount is staggering to me. So the $8.95 that QVC is now charging for returns might make sense to most of us.
