New Puppy Help...

In about 5 weeks, I will be bringing home a new puppy to our home. It has been almost 17 years since I did the puppy routine. It is a pug. Tell me about crate training? yes? no? What is the best method that you have found for housebreaking? piddle pads? newspaper? I remember when I got my last puppy, I purchased a lot of things I ended up not using- vari kennel, etc. Any tips would be helpful- any products that you suggest? I'm sure things have changed in the last 17 years- I must say I am a bit nervous about this, but really looking forward to it. Thanks for the information.
