OP, not that I'm referring to you, but along the same vein...
I've often wondered how a stylist feels when she'd really rather not have a client, especially a more difficult one. Must be a drag.

I had been going to the same person for probably 25 years and the pandemic hit.
When things re-opened I wasn't paying $120 for cut and color and not have it dried and styled before I walked out. They weren't allowed to dry it due to stupid mandates put in place by the governor..
When things went back to normal I went someplace else. I liked the cut and the color was good for about a year. Then I started to look like I had a calico kitten sitting on my head. I think he started winging it rather than looking it up or writing it down.
I tried another new place, like the color hate the cut and after giving her 4 tries I am going to call another new place tomorrow.

I had the same stylist for 20 years. When she retired, she suggested a younger stylist in the same shop. I really liked the young woman. She helped me grow my hair out from a short pixie cut to shoulder length, but she was always overbooking and running behind. I always had to wait at least 30 - 60 minutes after my scheduled time before she even started on me. She always apologized, but I just got tired of it. I stayed with her for 10 years before I decided to switch again. It was difficult to leave her because I loved the way she cut and highlighted my hair.
The lady I go to now does a simple cut to keep my hair in its current style, and a great blow dry. I rarely have to wait, and the one time that happened it was only a few minutes. She's usually ready when I walk in the door. She doesn't do color so I highlight my hair at home myself.

I've been going to the same hairdresser for 34 years. He's wonderful.I would be lost without him. When I started going to him he was 22 years old. He's about to turn 56!!
Over the years we've become dear friends. He cuts my husbands hair too.He also charges me a lot less than his other customers. I try to give him extra big tips but he won't take them.At Christmas I make it up to him.
He's talking about retiring but assured me that he will always be available to do my hair.

Such a great chat! Thank you everyone for the perspective.
I think I've been a "good" client. I think she's become popular and since I'm growing my hair, I don't return as frequently so she has other fish to fry, as the saying goes.
My tips are always generous and I try to express well what my desired outcome is. There has always been a bit of a language barrier but now I see, she uses it as an excuse.
I'm trying the new salon.

I don't change my hairstylist very often. But, I do find that when I do, my hair looks fresher and I look better. I think we all fall in to a rut, so you get the same things done. It gets old.
