I got out of the habit of using using top sheets when I started using a comforter instead. In the summer I just use throws instead of blankets and prefer the soft feel of the throw against my skin instead of a sheet.
The only time I use a top sheet now is in the winter when I use my electric blanket.

Just curious...then you wash your comforter or blanket once a week @I am still oxox ? My washing machine won't wash a queen comforter. It just won't fit, so the top sheet keeps it fresh.🙂

I always use a top sheet. I'd rather launder the top sheet than a blanket or quilt that has been directly on my skin. Plus, I like to sleep cool and my sheets give me that feeling.

We always use a top sheet.
During the summer we also use a lightweight thermal blanket.
During the winter we use flannel sheets a cuddle duds blanket.
Thats it. No bedspread and fancy bed pillows.

Actually, I used to use 2 top sheets plus a blanket. Having issues w/temperature regularion........sometimes 1 sheet was not enough but 1 sheet and a blanket was too much. I'm allergic to down.
I washed the second top sheet every other week. The other bedding weekly. The issue with some of the bamboo fabrics is that they should be washed in cold water.

I always felt like I was trapped under the top sheet even as a girl. I probably started sleeping on top of it back in the '70's. When I married I tried to stay under it since the idiot I married did but soon just went back to my regular way of sleeping. He too changed his need for a top sheet.
In my '60's now and I still do not get under it. Just means more laundering of bedding but since it is just me I do not mind. It is kind of like having to have at least one foot cover free completely. I cannot stand to feel smothered.

I always use a top sheet at home, but when I go to Europe, I noticed that the finest hotels did not, especially at the Sofitel ones.
They use a bottom sheet and a washable duvet covering a goose down comforter.
At first I thought it was weird, but when I slept with that type of bedding, it was wonderful.
I would sleep like that at home, but the thought of trying to stuff a comforter into a duvet is scary. I change my bed sheet once and sometimes twice a week, that would be way too much work for me to deal with a duvet.
But, don't knock it until you try it.

I haven't used a top sheet since I don't know when. I like the feel of soft blankets on my skin.

I haven't used a top sheet in years and I sleep in pajamas. It's not being lazy, it's just because they are to hot. I use a lightweight throw that I can kick off or stick my feet out for a blanket and I wash it when it needs it. I also don't have a quilt, duvet, comforter or whatever for a bedspread. No need for that heavy stuff in Arizona. I bought these huge fluffy blankets (they're like the throws in material) from Costco (I think they are around 100x100) and I use that as my bedspread. Easy to wash and the cats love them. I use them instead of a traditional covering because I was tired of getting snags in my quilts, I can change the colors anytime as they aren't expensive plus I can wash them in my own washer.
