Sorry, for the life of me I could not edit out the spoiler message which I clicked in error.

I just do not like the feel of that thin top sheet and since my SO is restless the sheet gets pulled out and ends up wrapping around our legs! I would siuspect that that topmsheet thing started because people did not bath as much way back and the top sheet was easier to launder

I don't use top sheets. Too easy to tangle.

Have never heard about that--and have to say, doesn't bother me in the least.

"The History of The Top Sheet" is highly Gooogleable and quite interesting.
(I now anticipate the entry of The Spelling Police.)

@ciao_bella. This isn't a new idea. I can remember it being a thing years ago, back in the '80s probably. I guess it's come around again.

Had no idea this was a thing of the past! Just hearing about it recently. Not sure what rock I was under but, clearly, I must have been.

I prefer a top sheet. I like the feel of it. I don't like bamboo. Gat a set of those with the new mattress.
I just hope they don't stop selling them. I have enough trouble as it is trying to find a comforter or even a bedspread to use as a comforter that works with the thicker mattresses. I don't want either to go to the floor, just to the bed rails. In other words, I want it to cover the mattress and the top of the box springs which would be the platform if you have a platform bed which has also become popular.
I guess manufacturers also assume that the bedspread doesn't go all the way to the top of the mattress either as it will not cover the mattress at the foot if you do that. I remember when bedspreads went all the way to the floor although I don't expect that since I have a high bed.

I'm a top sheet advocate. I just like that cotton sheet next to me. AND it saves me washing the blankets, quilts and comforters more often. My children use the top sheet, but ALL my grands do not use a top sheet. Believe me, I dread washing all those comforters and spreads after they all visit. I'm facing that right now, just after the Easter visit. I don't think those blankets were made to wash so often.
My children tell me the grands feel as though they get all tangled up in the top sheets. Even when I try to sneak them on to the beds, I find them neatly folded next to the beds. ![]()
