Re: Neighbor’s House Paint

@GingerHead   Good afternoon, with respect your reply shows just how people can get all upset over nothing.

I kindly suggested that perhaps had she included the information that she had met and liked her new neighors might have been helpful in less angry replies.  YOU may have interpreted her original post to be that she wasn't really upset,  however there were posters that did not.  I wasn't asking her to post a novel,  only that  sometimes a wee bit more detail to the back story helps.

Not sure why you felt the need to get all rude.  There are times posters that leave out details that required just a sentence NOT a NOVEL that would have provided more clarity to the actual situation they were looking for input on.  I do not believe I inspired "fear of posting"  sheesh.  But a conversation that is getting angry responses based on a misinterpretation of a situation and then the OP has to actually come back and clairfy just might.  And yes a sentence would have helped not asking for a novel thank you.

@eadu4

Yes, good afternoon to you as well.

I see you're sorta killin' me with kindness here....nice. I like it. Funny.

First off, I don't feel I was being rude at all. I feel I was just defending someone.

To explain ...I feel the need to defend @Biftu  because I feel she has been put through the ringer a little bit here and I feel partially to blame for this. I previously posted about how a very considerate former neighbor of mine brought paint chips to discuss her future paint colors with me and then a number of people posted about how crazy that was and then it snowballed to where I felt people were fusing our 2 posts and I didn't want her blamed for an innocent post of mine.

Also, after reading your last email it kinda felt like you were sorta "blaming the victim" a little. I know overly dramatic but that's what came to mind and putting myself in her shoes your post would have made me feel funny and bad about posting in the first place, hence I feel that could inspire fear in posting as you so eloquently put it.

Also, I stand by my statement that her level of annoyance should have had no affect on some of the responses in this case.

@Biftu Is this a sarcastic post or are you for real?  I can't belive that someone would be annoyed with a neighbors house color?

Where do you live?  In my area, minus HOA's, no one cares about house colors, trim colors, and door colors.  If you object so much, just move, or repaint.  Such nonsense.

And if you are really serious, If I were your neighbor, I would try to move immediately away from you (or let my yard grow uncontrollable to spite you).  Be careful what you wish for..  you may start a neighbor war over something as mundane as gray house paint.  LOL

Sorry, I have to respond to this, the OP isn't objecting or going on about it....we all are.  She just posted about some thing annoying her....I don't think she's as passionately upset as you are.

Just because it doesn't bother you personally doesn't mean it's nonsense. You don't need to be so rude to her.

We're all just discussing it.

@GingerHead   A simple posting turned into rude responses from a few.  You get it while some do not.  Thanks.

Re: Neighbor’s House Paint

Just as a follow up on this house paint debacle. The next door neighbors that painted their house the same color as mine just came over and gave me a hug and apologized for painting their house the same color as mine.  They said it looked bluer in the can and they felt bad when they saw it on the house.  What's done is done, but I feel better that they mentioned it and apologized.  All's well.

Re: Neighbor’s House Paint

I have an elderly neighbor who seems to mimic whatever I do. 7 Years ago she bought the same car I had just bought,in the same color.I just got a new car. She no longer drives or she likely would have bought one too. Last fall I got new windows & she replaced hers using the same company I used. I had a new front light installed a few months ago & the other day she replaced hers with the same exact style light.

I find it annoying but don't have the time to get upset over  it. It's become a running joke between some of the other neighbors & us. We are about to begin an inside remodeling project. The neighbors are laughing, telling us not to let her inside or she'll redo her home too.😂

Re: Neighbor’s House Paint

Just checked my neighbors homes. Never much cared what color anyone's home was just as long as they are relatively quiet.  Almost a duplicate of our house color. Interesting but my husband was very complimented by their choices.😀

Re: Neighbor’s House Paint

I repainted my house in 2019, a Benjamin Moore beachy blue, and three neighbors ( not too close, though ) repainted in the same color.

After some rough stormy seasons, I had the same painters back to repaint in the same color--and this time, the boss painter said that his wife had demanded that color for their own house.

I tried six before I picked the ... not sure of the name anymore.  Nelson Blue, maybe?

Re: Neighbor’s House Paint

I'm very glad that your neighbors apologized to you......They seem like very nice people.

Sometimes the color on the sample and/or in the can looks darker, lighter, or whatever.

And sometimes using a sample pint of paint on a house dries 'different'......it also depends on tree shade/sunlight/etc.

The house across the street 'changes' color shades/tints.  Depending on where the sun is situated and how it moves from East to West, etc.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
