Disagree about Consumer Cellular. They switched me to a more expensive plan without notifying me and I had to call them to get my original plan back. Instead, I cancelled them.
@kaydee50 That switching of your plans is supposed to be to your advantage and is extensively advertised. Even I know they do it and I've never been a customer. It should not have come as a surprise.

@NicksmomESQ I didn't know Boost Mobile was still around. I loved their "Where U At" old people commercials.

@kaydee50 -- My Consumer Cellular "plan" is $24.00. Same plan I've had for years. However, since my father's illness, I've been spending every day, all day at his house. He does not have a computer or internet service. Or a land line. My only contact with the outside world every day is my Consumer Cellular phone. My CC phone will grab any internet it finds out of the air, so sometimes I'm on the internet on my phone and "AT&T" will show in the upper corner of the screen, and sometimes "CCnetwork" shows in the corner, etc.
I don't have a data plan -- just my cheap CC phone plan. Whenever I use the internet longer than my plan allows, CC bumps me up to the $46-plan automatically. Which is fine with me. And, btw, they always notify me every month before they bump me. $46 for full internet and unlimited minutes is pretty cheap! When the time comes that I'm not accessing the internet on my CC phone several hours a day, it will automatically bump me back down to my $24 plan.
So you see, I don't mind CC bumping me from plan to plan automatically. It's much cheaper than having a more expensive service with an unlimited data plan. And, like I said before, service on CC is excellent.

I'm happy Consumer Cellular customer and when they bump you to a higher plan it's to avoid overage charges which is more expensive. Yes, you have to call to get back to your original plan, but I appreciate the idea behind it. It's just a phone call.
I got my Android phone through them at a fraction of the price of other companies. My bill is $42.00 for both my husband and myself which includes talk, text, and internet. You'd have to hold me at gunpoint to make me quit Consumer Cellular.

I can understand why they do it..... I had a mobile wifi with AT&T and when the unit wasn't charging I took it in the store to get a replacement....the problem was that AT&T no longer offered the unlimited plan with this mobile unit....it would end up costing me more money in the long run, even the AT&T Rep told me so.....I guess they are more concerned about paying "Lillie" in the commercials rather than keeping customers...
DITCHED 'EM! I would have loved it if there was a way they could keep me on an unlimited plan.....

I splurged and bought a new iphone 11---just can't spend that much for the 12---I have ipads and had a mac and I love APPLE brand---so I know a little about that brand--went to Xfinity from tracfone--and spend $45 a month---while I don't live on my phone and its camera is nice--I do use it as my primary phone and will prob buy a mac when I need a new laptop.
Have to say that Tracfone was very good for me for years--but bringing an iphone over to it was really a hassel --had alot of glitches and dealing with online CS was maddening---not sure it is the best for apple phones but the other brands were fine

Consumer Cellular is great and in first place for people that buy unlocked (not tied to a provider) phones. I always buy unlocked phones. Pay for it a head of time, then search for a provider.

@LonestarBabs wrote:I've had Consumer Cellular for the past 2-3 years and am very pleased with my Motorola Moto e5 Plus that I purchased for $150. Unlimited talk and text, 2 GB data. AARP discount and I pay $28/mo including taxes. If CC sees that you are close to exceeding your monthly data plan they will automatically move you into the next data tier to save you from paying excess GB charges. You can switch back down at any time and aren't locked in. You can change plans at any time through the computer, phone, or by calling customer service. Their customer service is great -- very helpful!
I have thought this would be good, will no longer need texting soon,i have trafone now, i have so many minutes of texting going to waste.

Verizon had a program called Visible. Cell coverage may vary. Check it out.
