Need help with ?gross? dog problem..

I know that many of you have dogs that you love and I am wondering if any of you have had a problem with your dog's @NAL35 gland leaking. I don't mean once in a great while, but at least once a day to the point of needing to have his hind end shampooed. I have had many dogs before and never had this problem. He is a five year old neutered Old English Sheepdog. This has happened once in awhile over the years, but seems to be becoming more frequent. I have not changed his diet, he is not scooting, or licking his "you know what", nor does he look swollen back there. Luckily we keep him clipped down which makes clean up much quicker. We have an appointment with our vet tomorrow, but I wondered if anyone here has encountered this and come up with a simple solution. I have read that sometimes if it can't be controlled, surgery is the only answer. There has to be a better remedy.....perhaps a diet change?
