Seriously?? Can you drop a source on this?
I'm serious. I was shocked when I read it. I can try and find the source. I read it a couple of months ago.
Seriously people, why would a gift be expected if you are required to travel some distance for a wedding? Example: airplane & hotel & your time. Crazy! Your attendance should be the gift.

VanSleepy is right about the Emily Post site, there are a lot different sources on Google, and some say no, your presence is enough. It would behoove anyone in this situation, the OP, to read some of them, then decide what is best for her.

Yes she does. But Emily Post also says you can ""reqister"" for cash gifts doesn't she? And I find that major tacky.
Other sites say you have to give a gift but it could be a lower price point.
I personally wouldn't attend without giving a gift. But that's just me.

I read the same, VanSleepy. That you always have to send/bring a gift, no matter the type or location of wedding, but that if you're attending a destination wedding, the gift may be less in value due to all the $$$ being spent to attend.

That's why OP should Google a lot of sources, as I just said in my post. Emily Post has a long post about it, so does HuffPost,.she should be able to figure it out now.

Money, money, money. They can spend it as they please. They didn't register anywhere, so maybe they are hoping that's what their gift would be. Who can't use a little extra fun money.
