Need Help Printing on My Apple Computer

At one time I could open Text Edit, highlight the text I wanted to print, and slide it over into the Text Edit block. Then printing was easy. Now that won't work. When I try to slide the text over, the Text Edit block disappears.

I know there have to be other ways. Can anyone with an Apple tell me how to print out things from these blogs using another method? It can't be that hard, but there's no one to help me with anything but a PC.
