I see myself coming out of a very dark financial time, including foreclosure and bankruptcy. I'm finally at a place where my debts are paid and I even have a little extra. I am renting a condo from a private owner and my current lease is coming up for renewa. I'm wondering if now would be a good time to look at purchasing another home or if I should continue to rent for a few more years. My current landlord is very generously offering to LOWER my rent if I renew for a term longer than two years. I'm very happy where I'm at and would be even happier there with a lower monthly rent. But, overall, I'm just not sure if I should be looking to purchase again. Is there some way to find a financial adviser who will not have their own personal agenda, i.e., selling me some type of package for their own financial gain? I am not earning a professional salary and don't have a large nest egg to invest. I just want to know if it would be wiser to look for a home now or wait a few years.
