My 12 year old Westie needs surgery for a torn CCL, cranial cruciate ligament. Same thing as a torn ACL in humans. He is eating well and all else is normal. I hate to put him through surgery if there are other options. I have been reading about 'conservative management', i.e. rest, supplements, etc. Has anyone tried this option with any luck? Anyone had their pooch have this surgery? My vet just put the surgery out there without other options, I know I should have asked more questions but at the time I was in shock! I hate to wait because I read arthritis will set in. This dog means so much to me....I cannot bear to harm him by doing the wrong thing. I know you all love your dogs and will help me.
