Re: National Day of Unplugging

My sons are already frustrated that I don't answer my phone so no.

I plan to spend quality time with my family anyway. I will still keep my phone on me (I don't have a smartphone).

The ban would include not being able to post or read here, right?

I'm not sure. I haven't read deeply into it, but I would think so.

Wondering if it means I can't read on the kindle or listen to audio books on the ipod. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Backup plan is to finish Charles Krauthammer's book.

Re: National Day of Unplugging

brii...the book is great! It's a collection of past published columns. His knowledge amazes me. Sometimes I think a dictionary would be handy...but I'm sort of figuring things out based on context. Close enough. {#emotions_dlg.lol}

A few pieces remember those in his life (a brother, a mentor, a pet) who have passed. They were touching. I enjoyed his pieces about one of his favorite passtimes...chess...as DH was a chess player and I "get" what he's saying. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Just getting into the "Politics" part of the book, and really looking forward to that!

I think you'd enjoy it, if you like him. They're short pieces and you can skip the ones that don't interest you.

What about TV? Watching TV is not exactly quality time spent with your family IMO.

I read the book. I saw Brett Bair interview him a few months ago. He is a fascinating man. His brother's passing was very touching.

Funny about the dictionary - LOL

What I didn't realize is he's been paralyzed since his early 20's. Amazing man...

He really doesn't make anything about his paralaysis, does he? I heard on Hannity one day that there was a story in the book about the first time they met. I didn't see Hannity's name in the index...is the story there?

In case it isn't, and in case others might enjoy it...they had talked for awhile (guest on Hannity's radio show, I guess), but hadn't met. When they finally did meet and Hannity saw that he was in wheelchair, he kind of threw up his arms and said, "What happened?"

LOL!

Re: National Day of Unplugging

It's hard to tell that he's sitting there in a wheelchair. He drives his own car every day too. Hannity story was in the Brett Baird piece.

I wonder if you can see that interview somewhere online.
