I started reading the first book in Adriana Trigiani's series of three books called Valentine. I enjoy reading it on my Kindle because I can adapt the size of the letters in the words according to what my aging eyes can comfortably read.

Thanks, cyn. Love seeing what's on everyone's To-Read lists.

Northcoast-I think this is the year that I may finally get a Kindle. I say finally not b/c I've been pining for it, just couldn't decide if I would use it in the same way and manner I read books. However, we are going on vacation soon and I realize that loveliness of having a small device with 1000s of books on it!

I got Double Down by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin as a XMAS gift - plan on starting it later today. It's a study of the 2012 presidential election. Loved their book on the 2008 election, Game Change.
Also want to read The Optimist's Daughter by Eudora Welty. Anne Tyler is one of my all-time favorite authors - remember reading once that she was inspired by Eudora Welty's writing. Welty won the Pulitzer for this novel - looking forward to it!

Thanks, Monet, the Welty book looks good. ![]()

For me, on these cold dreary days, it's The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon by Alexander McCall Smith and The Dead in their Vaulted Arches (the new Flavia book) by Alan Bradley.
ETA -- thanks, gimama, for your comment about how personal books are and about the variety of tastes among book club members -- it gives me great comfort when I think of all the books our group loved that I really hated!

Hi Honey-Seriously! There were many meetings where 5 of us would say we loved something and the other 5 said they hated it and vice versa. Typically, tho, there were many more times when there were less varied responses to something. And at the end of the year we would rate all the books and come up with our Top Books of that year.

Like insomniac, I had a couple of leftovers from 2013. Currently reading The Mourning Hours (Paula Treick DeBoard). When I finish it, I'm heading for The Goldfinch (Donna Tartt). Not looking past that yet.
