Loved saddle shoes. In the 70s (during the 50s nostalgia period) they came back -- with platforms. ![]()
I had two pairs: Black and white leather and brown and beige suede. From Kinney Shoes. (Remember them?)
Saddle shoes returned in the 80s but they were slimmer. Still have my two pairs: Blue and white and pink and white.
Don't ask.

I hated saddle shoes in junior high! I remember having black and white ones, red and tan ones, and navy and white ones.

@house_cat What a FUN thread! Guess I came to the party late . . . so I added a lot of memories. Wasn't childhood "back in the day" the best ever? (Glad I'm not raising my family now.) Thanks for such great memories; sounds like most of us had wonderful times!

Did you ever get the feeling Captain Kangaroo was on tranquilizers?
@just bee, he was pretty chill. LOL.

@jubilant wrote:Head scarves. I remember my grandmother and mother wearing them. Once in a while my sister and I had to wear one on windy days. By the time the 60's arrived we wanted nothing to do with them!!!
@jubilant I started school in 1968 and it was only a one block walk from my home. My best friend two doors down from me walked together daily. One winter morning her Mother put a scarf like that above on her and I could not help but laugh and tell her she looked like her Mom. She never wore it again and I have always felt bad that I laughed at her even if we were 6 years old. We joked about it in our high school years but I still felt bad for laughing. I never wore one after I started school but I do remember doing it at other times. YUCK.
@beckyb1012 That's it....that's exactly it! Who wanted to look like their mom and grandma. LOL! Maybe your little friend forgot all about it.

And in drug stores. In Albuquerque we have Model Pharmacy and they still have a soda fountain counter and serve food.
