Fried marbles.

I used to watch my mother take clear marbles with colored shapes in the middle, put them in a large fry pan, and heat them until cracks formed in them. They were beautiful, each one taking on a different pattern. They looked like this:

Of course l was instructed to never do this without adult supervision!

Minimum wage was $1.00 per hour!  But it was a 'good' living wage!

Kits candies (they had 6 blocks)

Transister radios

Caster Oil

Washing diapers!  Diapers had holes in the corners from the wind whipping them around the line!

"Ding Dong School."  I loved that.  My mother hated it.  Miss Frances (?) was always telling children to bring their mothers to the TV, often to be told that oatmeal boxes were needed for the next day's craft.

My mother was usually through with housework and cooking prep and trying to read when I dragged her over to the TV.

She would say, "If Miss Frances had kids, she would not be telling me to find an oatmeal box in August!"

Waiting for your favorite song to play on the radio and getting your cassette recorder ready to record it when it finally came on...including the DJ talking through the beginning and end of it🙄

Take time every day to enjoy where you are without a need to fix it
