Re: Name Something You Learned….

A lot of the math and science courses I took in school, the information I never used as an adult. However, I think the discipline it taught me to study subjects I was unfamiliar with helped me later in life. I never want to stop learning and continue to pursue subjects that are new to me on a daily basis.

@eadu4my husband has mentioned FORTRAN related to his meteorology. Quite an "interesting" subject from what he's said!

Latin and gym class. I really don't have an athletic bone in my body and I never  liked the sound of Latin.

Re: Name Something You Learned….

Honestly, I think I've used it all at one time or another.  History, math, English, literature, chemistry, geography, earth sciences, political science, philosophy, library science, communications, etc. etc. etc.

I did lot of writing, speaking, editing, publishing, public relations, and graphics, and I can say at one time or another it all got swirled into the mix of my working years.

I had to meet a lot of people and the background I had left me with something to talk about with people from around the globe.

Re: Name Something You Learned….

My parents were a math teacher and an industrial designer, so they constantly demoed how math was useful.

I'm in software marketing, but I'm an SME in my industry, so I understand how math works in our space.

Honestly, I can't think of anything I don't use.

Re: Name Something You Learned….

Throughout High School and College, I swam.  I couldn't help it.  I loved it so much.  My mother once asked me, when are you going to learn some other sport? Never I replied.  I did eventually learn another sport. But it had to do with you guessed it...water. Synchronized Swimming. Water runs in my family.  My father swam competitively.  My mother was a distance swimmer. In high school, I got in to trouble when I didn't pick gymnastics, bowling, etc.  Finally I was forced to learn basketball.  I drew the line at bowling.  I still can't bowl or play golf.  It had to do with being left handed. It wasn't required in swimming.
