Re: Name Something You Learned….

I have never created a macrame pot holder or needed to draw in charcoal pencils.

In my adult life, I have never needed to know or figure out: "If train A left the station at 9 a.m. going 90 mph, and train B left the station at.......", so, Algebra!

And what about that periodic table?  I can only remember a few of them, and the only time I've used them is to answer a Jeopardy question. No beakers or bunson burners in my house either, so, Chemistry!

And so far, still have never needed to cut up a frog and know where its parts are.

@LdyBugz ... l thought it was disgusting having to cut up that poor frog...especially for us girls to have to do that!! To me that was a boy thing! All those poor frogs! To this day frogs are one of my favorite little creatures!

I never use what I learned in Algebra, Algebra II and Geometry -maybe once in while  in order to answer a random Jeopardy question.  Same goes for Chemistry.

I went to college so I think everything I learned in HS had some value if not for the SAT exams, then for coursework in college.  They only thing that I never used, that served no purpose at all was physical education.

@EastCoastGal   It certainly was awful, and a lot of the boys didn't like it either!  I'll never forget that smell.  Blech!

@LdyBugz ... Oh yes! That awful smell!! I don't remember how the boys felt having to do that. I just remember the smell and how awful the whole thing was! I remember the girls and I looking at each other and making a face like "We really have to do this?!?!"
I still remember what my teacher looked like. I never liked him after that!

When you say PE...do you mean you don't see a purpose to exercise and moving your body? I loved PE...loved it.

I never used the slide ruler once I left college. Most everything else had some useful application to either my job, hobbies or living.

I hated PE not because of the exercise but because they (at the time) would tease and ridicule those of us who were PE challenged. I didn't run fast, wasn't athletic and was not good in any sport. Yet teachers and other more athletic kids would criticize, make comments etc to those who were not little gymnasts.
