That is funny!  Well, not exactly funny, more embarrassing!

One time about 1989-90 a caller was giving this lengthy, lengthy testimonial and  as she is yapping someone in the house picked up the extension, making all kinds of loud noise.  Then the caller started yelling, "put the "bleeping" phone down, I am on the phone.  Then the person started to dial out, you could hear the buttons being pushed, lol!  Then the caller swore again.  Judy Crowel was the host, and handled it like a trouper.  It took a bit before QVC cut the caller off.  Then Judy says, "oh, we must have lost her.." Hahahaha  The caller was using the Lord's name in vain.

Then one time they were changing hosts, and the music went dead and the screen went gray.  You culd hear mike's being handled, and feet scurrying around.  Then we hear a loud S----,  as someone hit something, because we heard a chair or something fall and hit the floor.  Then seconds later the music started the Host came on, and it was like nothing happened.  LOL!

I have about 10 Anthonys in my family and, yes, we're Italian-Americans living in the northeast.  But I promise you I never once spoke to any of them like that!  Woman Surprised  Most of the stereotypes you see on "reality" TV are as accurate a depiction of Italian-Americans as The Olive Garden is of Italian food.  Thanks Jersey Shore!!  Woman Tongue

You're absolutely correct!  NJ is nothing like it's depicted on TV and in the movies.

This caller said she lives on an island in South Jersey.  NJ is a very big state, and north & south are very different from each other.  So a lot being said here is a huge stereotype within an incorrect generalization!

I completely understand and share in your frustration, Susan!  This isn't directed at anyone posting here.  They're just being lighthearted and having fun (I am too!).  But man, I cringe every time I see one of these ill-mannered, classless, violent knuckle draggers being glorified on TV.  RHONJ, I'm looking at YOU!!  Fisted Hand Sign + Emoji Modifier Fitzpatrick Type-3

OK now, I'm a Jersey girl but I live in the Northern part, right across the river from Manhattan.  So you know we would never use that word especially if we were speaking on air!  Lol.  But then if she mentioned Island, hmmmm maybe she's a neighbor and got confused 🍷between an Island and a River!   And I don't know anywhere in NJ where you can't buy clothes, we have malls everywhere.  Oh dear, some of those Island Jersey girls give us such a bad reputation.😡. LOL.

Yes, I know!

I'm not frustrated, and I didn't think anyone here meant any harm.  :-)

Thanks for the Youtube tip-lol! So proud to be from New Jersey right now. Honestly we're not all like this-Smiley Happy I can't think of what "island" she could be on? Anyone else from NJ have any idea? Unless she's at the shore on Long Beach Island or something. Anyway, Leah was a hoot and handled it well.

Who lives ON an island in NJ???  I'm from NJ and I don't know anyone who actually lives ON an island and can't buy clothes in a State that has so many malls.  She could probably take a short ride on a rowboat to a mall.  When asked, most people say they live IN a city or suburb.

But more important, who screams that word when you know you're on air speaking to a host?  Maybe she had a few🍷🍷🍷🍷🍺🍺🍺🍺.  I'm happy she doesn't live on my Hudson River!  LOL.

The caller said she's from South Jersey.  Could be she lives in Brigatine an island across from Atlantic City.  Just guessing.
