How clever! Smiley Very Happy

Bring back the rotary dial...Just kidding! Smiley Wink

It always seemed like it took like forever to dial, since you had to wait for it to do it's semi-circular rotation when you were dialing it.

The last time that I had a rotary phone was about 32 years ago.

It was a Trimline phone, and if I recall properly, you could switch it between pulse dialing and tone dialing, so that it could dial like a push-button phone. That was a cool feature with it, back then.

Oh, I'd love one like that!  I still have a black rotary phone....  in the closet.  It brings me back to the day when we had exchanges in the city -- the first two numbers were the first two letters in the exchange, like Ingersoll 2-5555 was IN2-5555.  That's how we'd give our phone number. Eventually, they switched to the corresponding numbers.

Which reminds me of an "All in the Family" episode where Edith started dialing a phone number from her phone book.  She said, "MU7-5555" (exchange Murray Hill), then quickly slammed down the phone back in the receiver and said, "Oh.  They're using numbers now!" and dialed again, reciting, "687-5555."  lol

Too funny.

My brother has a Princess rotary phone which he uses when there is a power outage.

I confess.  We have a blush colored Princess rotary as the extension in the bedroom.

At least blush is in style now.  :-D

Exactly what it would take to get my 82 year old mother to use a cell phone!
