I went out to the shopping plazas for the first time since March.  I have new roads, new traffic patterns and new buildings that have been completed or are in the process of being built.  It was a whole new world and I have only been away three months.  🤣

Guess that's what you get when you work and grocery shop around the corner.  Drive two more miles and Rand McNally needs to draw me a new map.  😂

Sounds like your town took a bad situation and found how to use it for something good during the quarantine....

That's what my friends and I were saying about some of the construction projects here that have been going on for awhile now....they probably couldve been completed by now....Woman Frustrated

@Laura14  I thought your state opened up about a month ago.   Seems a bit far fetched to believe that you have new roads, traffic patterns and buildings in such a short time.

I took a ride today to the center of town after three months and saw that three restaurants have gone out of business.  We are only open for outdoor dining and the few that were open looked pretty busy.  A few boutiques were open.  Our art threatre is expanding and going through construction before this pandemic and looks like it is at a standstill.   Construction will begin again soon but they decided not to open until next year.  They said that movie production has slowed if not halted and they would not have many new movies to show anyway.  No new traffic patterns or any other changes.

The issue with Ga was cleared up by the governor. The kids will still need to pass a road test within a cerain time - I think it was 90 days. I agree it sounds backwards, but there is a system in place if the kids don't show up to take the test. I live in Ga.

They also did quite a bit of paving and roadwork here in my area during the shutdown as well.  No new roads, but there were quite a few pot holes and some road repair work that had been scheduled.  Have to say it was a pretty good decision to keep those crews working during the shutdown.  They could work in small teams, they work outside & could keep a distance from each other.  In the meantime, they were able to get the road work completed when there was very little traffic on the roads.

@Kachina624 Maybe where you live but not where I live. I live in small town America. When I ventured into one of our small towns to do some shopping after being home for a few months everyone was so friendly! I know a lot of the store owners and it was so nice to catch up! I ended up doing more talking than shopping. Scary? Absolutely NOT.

I don't usually post, but I am feeling really isolated and blue.  I went to the "tiny" mall on Saturday (only 2 stores to speak of).  I have been going out for groceries and necessities, but this was the first I was out trying to get back to normal.  It was surreal.  Other shoppers seemed stand-offish (I know, I know - social distancing),but everyone was in their own little world.  The Penney's really did look as if it is going out of business - I thought this one was staying for a while.  I left sadder and more depressed.  I don't know how to explain.  I always smile and speak with people, especially older people.  I felt like the only person in the world, surrounded by people.  How will it all end.

@ID2    If you don't think society has changed, you haven't been watching your TV.
