@LilacTree. You  should have ordered blonde; you'd have more fun.

Oh, I don't know about that!  Us white-haired gals have a lot of fun, too!!

Unfortunately I have to send the wig back.  I will explain tomorrow . . . just spent four hours on phone with Dell tech, as I was hit with malware and several other viruses.

I'm disappointed and upset because they do not refund, only get an exchange or a store credit.

Sorry it did not work out. Very few stores refund or exchange a wig. In some ways, it is a good thing and protection from receiving a wig that someone else wore. Any wig I have ever bought in retail says final sale.

Sorry @LilacTree you're experiencing computer problems. Hope you can get it straightened out..

Ditto to everything @Trinity11 said, which reflects my experience as well.  Hope you're not discouraged, @LilacTree.  I'm sure you will look so pretty and hope it all works out...

Oh, Lilac Tree, I am so sorry you are having computer problems and on top of that the wig didn't work for you.  So many of us were looking forward to seeing a picture of you wearing the new wig.  I have been searching for a wig and I do make sure to notice if one can be returned if it doesn't fit, or for any other reason.  Some will exchange it and some will refund your money.  Sadly there aren't very many places that sell wigs on line.  I am going to try some wig shops in town, somehow I think that is a better way to go.  Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing a post from you as to what went wrong and again I am sorry it didn't work for you.

@goldensrbest

As to the wig, it was way too small and it only comes in regular sizing (I thought I had a small head but I guess I don't) and the cute fringe on the back of the neck which appears on the photo was very short, not at all as pictured.  Also the white was too bluish.

I guess I'd be better off with a very light platinum blonde.  I was only a blonde once when I was very young and had it dyed and no one liked it.  I really didn't like it myself.  I like the color of my natural white hair and will just have to keep piling it up on top of my head where it's so thin.

Wilshire does have human hair bangs which seem to start far back on the top of the head, so perhaps that would be a better choice.  However, they are $250 and I just can't justify that.  I've already lost $125.  I'm afraid I don't have enough hair on top to hold a clip.  And I didn't see any white ones either.

There are shops around here that sell wigs and perhaps when one of my daughters has the time, I will try one or two of them.

I will also try the supplement suggestions I received here.  Other than that, I will just have to get used to it or wear hats and scarves all the time.  OR JUST GET USED TO THE FACT THAT I'M VERY OLD NOW AND GET RID OF MY VANITY!!!!!

Never!  Perish the thought!

You are never too old to care about YOU and you are a beautiful "old" lady!  Hope you find a wig that works.  Wilshire did not have many white ones that I found and they have weird names, "pure white, snow white".  Good luck!

@LilacTree, I am so sorry that first wig didn't work out.  The disappointment you describe is almost universal to ALL first time wig buyers, especially having to purchase "sight unseen" as it were.  Even visiting a wig salon can sometimes yeild less than satisfactory results.  But rest assured, there is a wig and a color that will look FABULOUS on you, should you decide to continue.

I don't even think of it as a matter of vanity, any more.  My thin, flat hair condition started in my early thirties, and I went through all sorts of feelings about it.  The bottom line is-- we all want to look just "normal", not have people noticing things about our hair and scalp.  Life is too short!  So over the years I've come to look at wigs as a fun adventure, a way of changing up my look at will, or blending in with everyone else, and an indespensible fashion accessory.

You are such a striking looking woman in your picture, I can imagine MANY styles that would be enhancing.  As far as color, you appear to be very fair, with 'cool" coloring, perhaps?  If so, you are spot on in looking in the platinum direction.

If you ultimately opt to look some more, or you and your daughter venture to a store, may I be so bold as to suggest possible colors in various manufacturers?

The Norkio/Rene of Paris/ Amore lines have a color called "Creamy Blonde".  It is a flattering platinum with just a wee hint of a pale beige blonde blended in to keep it from going too cool.

If you get fed up from looking, there is an almost universally flattering "default" wig that Noriko makes called "Sky".  It keeps winning awards b/c almost everyone can wear it, so it's a good entry level wig.  It is youthful, layered, can be smooth or lightly tousled. They make it in "Creamy Blonde", and they make it in both Average or Large!

Another fab wig is "Voltage" by Raquel Welch.  It is more tousled, is adorable on every age, and comes in Average and Large.  The girl in the video below takes off her smooth bob and pops it on in "Glazed Vanilla" a luscious color.

Just a few ideas for your consideration.  Best of luck!

I forgot to mention for both you and @Lindsays Grandma, that there are excellent videos of the wigs at the online outlets Wigs.com, and Cyster Wigs.com.  In addition, here are some other wig-wearers who do wonderful, detailed video reviews of wigs online:

Katt Tracks

Taz's Wig Closet (I love her personality-- she is such a pleasure to listen to, and explains every aspect of the wigs so carefully.  Also gives great styling tips.)

Interpretive Option

Fauxhair Fabulous

cindynok (Adorable "everywoman" from Oklahoma who gives very sincere, honest reviews of many of the most popular wigs.)

Really they are all darling and a great resource!
