I'm am so happy I just had to share the good news. My 14 yr old kitty has been over weight for many, many years. He is part Maine Coon which are big kittys but he was 21lbs and I had given up on trying to get weight off him. Last February when he had his teeth cleaned the blood work given prior to that showed his kidneys were slowing down. He was on a low protein diet. After I lost a kitty to cancer a month later I decided to get all my kittys off ALL grains which meant higher protein content. I had regular blood work that showed the kidneys had no negative changes. When I took my boy in for his yearly exam and vacs much to my surprise and my Vets he had lost 4 lbs. I really feel that getting him off the grains that alot of our pets food contains has helped him loose the weight. I also think that the protein satisfies him so he eats less. Grains are mostly used as fillers and I think they are harming our pets health. I really think the grains which are carbohydrates are to blame for alot of the diabetes our pets are getting. Anyone have any thoughts on this subject?
