My dad died...

I would love your opinions.

My dad passed away from Multiple Myeloma. He was not a good dad all these years, not a mean dad just did not know how to be a father. Anyway, he has been married to his third wife for 20 yrs, and she was never close with any of us kids. If my dad had a will is she obligated to let us know? Is there a way to find out, is it public record? I am not so sure she would want us kids to have anything.
