Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

My husband refers to Spectrum as SPECULUM. Their bills are just about as welcome as the nickname implies. They have cut out certain channels but then say they have not raised prices. They have absolutely no special deals once you are a customer. I live in a heavily wooded area where satellite doesn't work well. We are stuck with Speculum but we don't have to like it.

You're so right.  We pay $168 to Spectrum for Internet/TV, and our Internet goes down all the time, especially evenings and weekends.  Been told by Spectrum we have a "small packet short", whatever that is, but they can't seem to fix it.  We watch TV with Roku stick, so when Internet is down we have no TV, no smartphone, no PC, no iPad, no nothing.  We have to sit and read instead (not necessarily a bad thing!)  For this I am paying $168?  And this is in a large metro area - Tampa Bay.

We just moved into an older home (we love it) and it still has the old antenna still up but wires detached.  Was seriously thinking how DH and I could reattach the wiring......  Woman Wink

Spectrum raises the rates on us long time customers while giving the $99.99 introductory rate to new fools. It's the only game in our locale if I want cable, phone and internet all under one bundle.

So forgive me, I complain a lot about Spectrum, you may want to move on! I noticed my bill went up by $11.55 from $209.88 to $221.43 ( I have cable, internet and a landline phone) two months ago. I called today because I had the time to be on hold ( over 20 minutes), of course the CS rep told me what had gone up, if I want to lower my bill I can cut out some services ( let me say I have been with the company for 18 years, when it was Time Warner Cable). She then tells me my " promotion" year is up in February, my bill will then go up to $237! You would think Spectrum would hold costs down, people are probably leaving them in droves, streaming shows, all you need is internet access. Talking to them about adjusting your bill falls on deaf ears, they don't care!

I had the exact same experience - and I called Spectrum (I'm electronically-challenged) and all the rep said was that I could reduce my services. I didn't know how to respond - but I already have minimum services. CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

As for Spectrum, seems like every few months it creeps up a little.  I think last time there were some various fees which went up.  It's very expensive to have cable TV, internet and on top of those phone charges.  Lotsa money every month.

My bill went up a few bucks too.  So did my waste management, the sewer bill, pge, verizon. All together about  55 dollars in extra costs.  Geesh.

Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

Here we go, don’t get me started with Comcast.  Was having trouble.  Goes into - no signal at least once a week.   Asked since I was a LONG time customer, that they could really cut my bill.  Lost 5 channels including TCM (which I DO  watch)   Next bill comes, it went down 3-4 dollars, called them, now more stations gone, said I want my previous package back, nope, no longer available.  If I wanted TCM back now 9.99 a month.  So all the BS and now my bill is $6 higher with less channels.  I need to read the electronics forum.  I agree internet should be monitored like other utilities.  My bill is 229.  I have a landline, but it’s not extra, if I cut the landline it will go up even more because of the bundle, so I just keep it.  Verizon in this area, which is just as bad.  I really need to look into streaming services.  Although I complain, I don’t have it in me to switch every year to keep getting intro rates.  My dad will go, Comcast, Verizon, direct TV.  Just ticks me off because my sister has the package I did have, and it exists.

Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

I read in some cost saving article that sometimes the only thing you can do is change service every 3 to 5 years to take advantage of promotions.   It's annoying, but no one gives you a long time customer discount!

Re: My Spectrum Bill Went Up

I’m infuriated with the stranglehold monopoly of these cable companies.

Sigh....anyway, there’s a FREE TV APP. called PLUTO, which is really good. They’ve added many programs.

There’s  others, such as VUDU, TUBI, COURT TV, XUMO, SONY CRACKLE,

which are Free as well.

For pay services, I stick w the originals Prime, Netflix, Hulu!

A smart TV or roku/fire stick helps, especially w Alexa enabled.
