Husband & I live on a 6 acre lot; fenced in for our dogs. 6 years ago an undedicated street was graveled and 4 house built on it. The homeowners bring their trash for p/u to the end of that street.
Since Day 1 it's been a nightmare. Unsecured trash put out literally days before p/u. It then blows across the street outside of our fence and eventually into our main property. Our driveway isn't near this street. We've always had the occasional litterbug which we'd pick up after but this is completely different.
One guy does construction on the side and throws all that material out there. Literally, he just dumps it all unsecured. Few years at two of the houses the young women started selling candles with a MLM company. I'm acquaintances with one of them since she was the first house to be built there. So on top of the construction material they started throwing out their non-biodegradeable packing peanuts. Unsecured.
Makes your blood boil to see those peanuts all over our property knowing 1)they could've secured them & 2)they won't clean them up. My 'friend' (Jill) admitted to me one time they were hers when I called up complaining profusely. Her husband came over, picked them up and told her NEVER AGAIN since it's such a pain. She now double-bags them.
The other woman (Hannah) knows about this issue. I've told her and so has my 'friend' who is over her at the MLM co. She obviously doesn't care. She just throws her boxes out next to her cans.
Last month I'd had enough of all of the junk. It actually looks like a construction/garbage dump across from my property. Then Jill text me & said they were Hannah's & she'd asked her repeatedly to get them before they made it through our fence.
Fast forward to the past 2 weeks. I had the police out twice. Second time they walked my property with me and realized what a huge pain it is and environmentally unsafe. The officer found a box with her name on it at my fenceline. She said she'd pick them up.
Since then I've text & email her. She only replied when I told her she shouldn't go back on her word to the Sargent and 'to do the right thing'. Said she'd be over this Sat to do it and would call to tell me what time. Still no call & I've emailed her twice more.
Yesterday saw some of the peanuts have made it to the property next to us. My husband is going to rent a machine to slurp up the peanuts; figure Jill won't do it.
Oh! When I called to inquire about regulations on trash removal I was dumbfounded - they have no record of invoicing Hannah in the 5+ years she's lived there! What!?!?!?? She just puts her cans out & they never knew the difference. At this week's p/u they did a route audit; basically going through her trash to find a name. They can only bill 6 months back, though. That just blew me away, I even called back the next day to make sure I heard that correctly.
I figure as long as she's getting candles delivered she's going to keep putting them out unsecured. I have a box with her name & address on the label, picked it up next to my fence, took a picture first. I printed out the tracking info (UPS). I also have copies of the police reports with her name on them.
If she doesn't get her peanuts off of my property by Saturday I'm going to call the candle company. I want them to quit packing her shipments in any kind of peanuts or anything that can make it out of the box when she pitches it. They can talk to Jill, her upline, to verify this is an ongoing issue. At this point I don't care if they drop her as a Rep or not. I'm done picking up other people's garbage.
OK, I feel better now! Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have to run out for a few hours but will definitely be back if anyone replies to my drawn out issue.
