@lovescats : Well for me it's not that great. On any given day - a lot of the items are not listed, but the junk mail is always  noted. The ones listed will not always be delivered that day but several days later. My mail is normally delivered any time between 4 pm and 6:30 pm. The other day- the mail box was jammed with mail thus very difficult to remove if you have arthritic hands and fingers, this happens on a regular basis. We hated to see our previous postman retire because he knew that both of us are handicapped and he would place packages and mail in our chair next to the door. Our doctors have completed forms requesting for us to have a mail box on the front door but always denied. Just like so many other jobs- some people provide excellent service and others just do what ever. If you try to call the local post office- no one never answers.

have you tried buying a bigger mail box that is what I did.

We have a rural mail box the end of our driveway.  We have no issues with our mail lady.  When we have something to  mail we simply put up our little red flag and they pick up our mail.  No issues. One perk for living in the country.

Our main problem is our post office which sends all mail back and forth to a distribution center 65 miles away.  Things get  lost or held up.  But locally we are blessed with good people doing their job.

Every year I gave my mailgirl a bottle of wine and $10.00. She was a great girl. She's retired and I really miss her. She wanted to know what was in each pkg. and box, and I got her hooked on QVC.   Her brother graduated with my son, so she wasn't a complete stranger, But my mail has always come 3:30 or 4.

It may not be their job lto ring the doorbell to alert the homeowner a package is on the doorstep but most carriers do in our area as we have a huge issue with porch bandits and the Post Office is very aware of the problem and trying to help curb the losses.  Our Fed EX, UPS and Amazon delivery persons always ring the bell or knocks on the door I thnk just to be curteous to their companies customers so you will continue to buy from them Good customer service goes a long ways.
