That would annoy me. Maybe he thought he would have to hear that noise the whole time he was waiting for his appointment. It's not the stylus making the noise, it's the keyboard. Turn it off.

I just realized this (I am fairly new to these new phones too).
I thought you had to turn down the volume to turn down the texting noise but I just discovered if you go into settings, then "general", then go into "sounds", scroll down to bottom and you will see "keyboard clicks" and you can slide the button to off (it probably is on and in green).
that is if your phone is the same or even if similar I hope that helps.
I don't feel bad because even my kids say it takes them a year to learn all the things on these phones and that you never learn all of it anyway!

That would drive me crazy.

I always shut off the keyboard sound because it is extremely annoying. Especially in shared space.

I think I must put up with a lot more than the rest of you, who it seems, think the tap sounds of the OP sending a brief text, were overwhelmingly too much.
Do any of you remember going into a doctor's office back in the days when all the office staff used manual typewriters, and all you could hear was typewriter taps while you sat in the waiting room? I didn't mind that then..and wouldn't mind hearing a few taps now if someone was texting to someone while in the waiting room.

I'll admit that it's not quite on par as those people who like to have a LOUD hands-free conversation in public (that is REALLY obnoxious), but the tapping thing is so avoidable. Why draw attention to yourself - why not just turn it off?

@PurpleBunny True....you can turn off the sounds but the OP didn't know that yet and it seems she really didn't mean to be offensive, or she wouldn't have started this post.
when I'm in a situation like this, I try to give people some slack. It does get messy when you want to give them hints in a non offensive way.

You can turn off the sound to the keyboard in settings... I always turn mine off. I don't want to hear that noise either with my own or someone else's texting...

Absolutely! Especially in a doctors waiting room! Geez. I turn off all sounds when I'm in a waiting room. No one hears anything coming from me when I'm texting with my fingertip.
