I am so very sorry for your loss. This is the worst part of loving a pet. . .But know that he is now painfree and is still with you in your heart.

@MaverDaver  I am so very sorry you lost your beloved dog.

You did the right thing knowing he was in pain.  It is a terrible decision you are forced to make to ease their suffering.

Remember the wonderful life you gave each other.

Unfortunately, this painful grief is the price we pay for loving them so much.

Allow yourself time to grieve.

So sorry for your loss.   I can't read all the comments because I will be a mess in short order.  We had to put down a dog in April.  I did not post here because there is no way I could handle reading all the comments without becoming a wreck.  I still miss all the dogs I have had to let go.

You loved Kino and he loved you back.  There is nothing greater than that.  Know that he is at peace and hope that you will meet again.  Take care of yourself.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else. Margaret Mead

@MaverDaver I share your pain and sadness over losing your Kino.  You did everything you could to provide the best care for him and got all the info you needed to do the best for him.  I had a similar situation with my beloved Bulldog and was told by the specialty vet that he had a brain tumor that was so aggressive that treatment wasn't a good thing for him.  It's still so hard to do but I truly believe that you and I did our best (even if it still hurts so bad).

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you. I am a German Shepherd dog mama.  We had a similar situation with our "Greta" when she was only 8. It was cancer. Life with your dog is never long enough in years but the memories last forever.

I feel your loss deeply,  as I too lost my 16 year old Shih Tzu yesterday.  He was the greatest joy and for 16 years he was by my side.  I was his person and I cherish the years that he loved me unconditionally. I would do anything for him.

My heart felt sympathy to you as I know and feel your pain. The tears just wont stop. It;s just never enough time with our precious babies.

@MaverDaver - I am so sorry. You loved him until the end and I know he felt that. You let him go before his pain became unbearable for him. I will be thinking of you.
