The other day I got a call from my "grandson" telling me he was in some type of trouble.  Apparently, he "hit" some woman with his car and she's very angry and insists he pay for damages.  Imagine, the nerve of some people.  "Grandson" wanted me to send him some money.  I had only 1 question for "grandson."  "How can you be my grandson, when I have no children, hence no grandson."  Then I told him what he could do and he promptly hung up on me.  This "grandson" must have been raised by wolves.

Sounds like those scammers didn't do their homework.  Shame on them!

Re: My Grandson Called, Too

[ Edited ]

Has happened before and happened again recently. He sounded old enough to be my grandfather. No kids here either. A friend of my mother's fell for this scam many years ago. Such a shame people are just such crooks.

@coffee drinker  Something similar happened to my DD, and my SIL grabbed the phone and started to tell the guy off, but he's been working on his temper, so he just told the guy he should go to church. LOL

This is a widely used and long standing scam. It's tempting to lead them on, but I didn't want to hang on the phone. He hung up quickly when I asked him his name and then said I didn't have grandchildren.

@coffee drinker  Good on you! They *think* all women of a certain age have grandkids! The funny thing is my grands each have a special cute nickname for me that no one outside the family knows!

If I ever got a scam call my first question would be to ask what's your  name for me! THEN I'd tell them to stick it!

Yes, 2 grandson calls for me, also no grandchildren.   I told them they were a low down POS, out of the will, dead to me, and next time they dared set foot on the property Pops would not be firing a warning shot!  They hung up and no calls since.

It happened to my mother about ten years ago.  Thank goodness she didn't fall for it.
