Re: My Foray into Walmart Curbside Pickup

@1Snickers -

That is exactly describing what I did and I know others here too so I don't feel insane at least!

Exhausting isn't it?!

I wish I could figure out how to get delivery from Trader Joe's.  That is the first place I am going if we ever get "released".

Bottom line, it's a very very difficult time and we are going to have to make do with what we are able to get.  It is what it is.

Re: My Foray into Walmart Curbside Pickup

I have been using Wal Mart delivery for several months.  There have been times - especially now - when I ordered an item, but then it is out by the time the order gets put together. They do let me know if there is a substitute item, but it is not that often.  I do have to order two or three days ahead though.

I specify that the cold food must be cold, and that the dates on food are at least two weeks ahead.  The person who packs the order is not the same person who delivers the food. I really appreciate their service.

Re: My Foray into Walmart Curbside Pickup

In my area curbside pick up has been suspended.  They are so  backed up with orders that they cannot take anymore. It has been this way for at least a week.

Tomorrow, I am going to the grocery store.  We really don't need much, but my DH is running out of snacks and we could use some eggs. I know chocolate is on my list..they better have some.

I thought about that service from Walmart and other stores. But I like to see what I'm getting.  I know the places run out of things. I like to see expiration dates.
I haven't been in a month, my commissary is closed to retired & dependents except one day a week. No prescriptions, glad I changed the refil to mail order.
Harris Teeter has Sr, shopping 6-8 tomorrow morning.

My mission impossible plan is to wear a yard mask, (glasses nose spray and eye drops first). Hat, gloves, sanitizer in hand,(they sanitize basket & hand it to you)  credit card & their card $ coupons in pocket. With detailed monthly list run through store and when home wipe each item with sanitizer before putting on pre sanitized garage shelves.
Sanitize frozen etc foods for kitchen, strip clothes off and toss in laundry. Store foods on the way to bathroom running naked through house for shower and washing hair.
 Then walk dogs.
My yard man to spray for bugs wants to come at 8 , I had to postpone him until 3 because I need to run to the shower. I have lots of windows.
Shopping used to be so easy!

@1Snickers, you don't mention putting clothes on before walking. Perhaps that is an excellent way to ensure social distincing?

Re: My Foray into Walmart Curbside Pickup

I don't think it's just WM being out of stock with things.

A friend of mine has a daughter who works for both Shipt & The one Publix uses.  Her mom told me she had 55 orders on Tuesday & most  got 1/3 of what was on their lists.  The orders are coming in faster than they can update the site.

Her daughter has been working long hours but making great $$ including bonus offered if these shoppers take more jobs.

Shopping from home has no longer become a "convenience" it's now for most "necessity" when it's their only option due to health and other reasons.

My hats off to all those who work in these food stores.  I will only go once a week during off-times when store is not crowded so far I've been lucky to get the few things I need.

Re: My Foray into Walmart Curbside Pickup

There are no pickup slots at stores near me so I would be happy to just be able to get a curbside pickup these days.  Our stores that do take orders will not commit to having eveything in stock, of course.  I would pickup in the middle of the night if it was available.
