My Dog has Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome

Has anyone had experience with Selegeline as a drug to combat Coginitive Dysfunction? Our 12 year old Shih tzu has become very difficult to handle at night- she paces and cries and barks constantly- we can't get her to calm down on her own. The Doctor feels she has cognitive dysfunction. She is ok during the day ( I think-) I work- but when I come home she seems fine.

Loud noises and our main TV just set her off- I have tried the thunder shirt- no go- and she does calm down if we give her 1/2 a xanax- but I just don't know if we should put her on this new med. It is 70.00 for 30 day supply- my husband is grumblingloudly about this- but she is my baby.

Has anyone had experience with this issue?
