@Vivian Florimond wrote:If people want to get a tattoo, especially if it evokes a something or someone meaningful, that obviously brings joy so who am I to pass judgment? On the other hand, I admit that when I see people covered from head to toe in ink, I wonder why anyone would do that to their bodies and how that decision might affect their future employment and relationships. Tattoos are permanent. Lives change but tattoos remain. Why have your body fixated in time? Then there's gravity. My husband and I joke about where a tattoo will wind up, and what it will look like, as skin inevitably moves south. It could be quite amusing, but not in a good way.
Because it's something - sometimes the only thing - that has been a constant throughout their entire life, that is a deeply meaningful part of themselves, and that will stay true into the future and forever.
Like the one I hope to get as a "from-the-womb" animal lover. 8)

I don't solicit medical experiences and only go thru them if required. But I have a friend from college who is my age (66) and who has a "Tree of Life" tattoo on the back of her hand, as she is a great fan of Disney's Animal Kingdom park. Personal choice. Many of the piercings I see on younger people are very delicate and nice. It's not a biggie in my book. This stuff is in fashion now.

I'm from the generation raised to think tattoos are tacky, and to some extent that will always stick with me. But I don't think ill of a couple of small, unobtrusive tattoos here and there. Multiple large, visible tattoos are another thing, however, to me. Not saying people shouldn't do whatever they want, but there will be job and social repercussions.
Piercings? Not a fan. It strikes me generally as immature. That said, I've seen small nose piercings I actually liked, and have also seen small brow piercings I didn't mind. But ear discs and tongue piercings, ugh. As far as the under-clothing piercings - whatever floats your boat.
As has been said, I have to think of ex-lovers and ex-spouses, but not ex-tattoos - and yep, saggy tattoos.

LOL, I'm pretty sure when 'everything goes south' a wrinkly tattoo will be the least of their problems. Many people live for regret, I think it keeps them happy.
I don't find a lot of face tattoos attractive, but as other's have said, it's not my body.

I'm lazy and didn't read all of the responses so if someone answered you, forgive me.
Your black cat tattoo would translate well into a tattoo in my opinion. From what I've heard the really dark tattoos hurt a bit more than others. The saturation of color needed for the black cat would probably hurt like a sonofapup, but I think it would be a neat tattoo.

I wouldn't advise putting your gf/bf name in visible sight. People seem do it, thinking they will never break up. I am aware they can change it to another design later, but still.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other about tattoos.
However, the company I was a HR Executive for had a firm policy on tattoos. They were not to show, EVER. Employees were working with public and tattoos can be controversial.
Either the tattoo itself or the feelings that are formed about them.. A huge no-no for my company and grounds for termination.

I don't have multiple piercings or tattoos, but I have co-workers who do, and I can vouch that they do wonders for job relations. I teach at a middle school. Any teacher sporting tattoos, multiple piercings, and/or blue/green/pink hair is viewed as a really fun or cool teacher--one that every student wants to be around. I used to work in schools where such dress would be a violation of the dress code, but not here. We are expected to do whatever we can to relate to students. Doesn't matter what or how you teach--all that matters is that they like you.
