If people want to get a tattoo, especially if it evokes a something or someone meaningful, that obviously brings joy so who am I to pass judgment? On the other hand, I admit that when I see people covered from head to toe in ink, I wonder why anyone would do that to their bodies and how that decision might affect their future employment and relationships. Tattoos are permanent. Lives change but tattoos remain. Why have your body fixated in time? Then there's gravity. My husband and I joke about where a tattoo will wind up, and what it will look like, as skin inevitably moves south. It could be quite amusing, but not in a good way.

I think it's because of the way they express it. There's nothing wrong with not likeing tattoos, but many people are in fact judging the person for having them.

"Oh you mean those comments"
LOL, I know very successful businessmen(women) that have them. I myself would never even think of getting one, but I somehow find them fascinating on other people.

I don't give a hoot what part of your body you choose to tat or pierce, just NOT the face... My husband said he wouldn't hire anyone with tattoos on their face.. some companies, as my husband's are very conservative and they dress to the max.. of which I am sure lots have tatts but please not the face with the piercings and tatts..

Personally I think they are just plain unattractive. I could never fathom why someone would want to deface their body like that but to each his own.
Personally, I see it as a trend that's going to look ridiculous 20 years from now---much like hair and clothing styles of the 70's and 80's do now. Unfortunately it will be an expensive fix to try and have them removed.
Business in the tattoo **removal** industry is already booming.

As I said, I don't have a problem with piercings/tattoos. It's not my body. Certain places it should be covered up, like schools etc. I do have a problem with looking at some extreme body modifications. Some of it is downright scary looking, like split tongues etc.

@Marp wrote:I have a tattoo question. Would the picture below translate well as a tattoo and how would it hold up over time?
All tattoos fade over time especially if in a sun exposing area of the body. The background on this one would fade and maybe not look as good.
Are you thinking about getting this tattoo?

The psychology aside, I find it grossly unappealing too, on men or women. Don't see the appeal and don't care to have it explained because I still won't see the appeal.
