Not with open-minded prospective bosses.

Agreed
Yet @feline groovy, I would also say that "non-decorating" is also a form of self-expression. :-)
Of course, SS. 8-)
But jewelry, clothing, accessories, footwear, makeup, hair styles, hair color, and other exterior things are self-expression too, just the way skin art and piercings are.

Why would they? It's not like everyone is prejudice. Again, employers and easily just say the company policy is no visible tattoos so if you accept the job you'll have to cover it with either clothing or makeup. Simple.
You were the one who pointed out the tattoos could be covered with make-up made for that specific purpose.
Lipstick Diva was talking about a law office, many of which are conservative settings. I have a nephew who is a lawyer for a large corporation. Visible tattoos are a no-no.
If I were going to a job interview in a conservative setting, I would dress appropriately. To me that would not just mean my attire, but also my hair and make-up. If I thought I would have to be disingenuous, I would not seek employment in that environment.
Exactly. If one is intelligent enough to get the (conservative setting) job, they will know how to present themselves. OTOH, their personal expression may lead them to more creative fields.
Wow, so now you are questioning peoples intelligence who have tattoos. nice.

I know a young kid with a tattoo shop. He follows all the rules and regulations. If he didn't,nobody would go there. Who wants to go to a dirty place where they don't have sterile equipment. Most of tattoo business is word of mouth, based on reputation.

True, there are SOME companies that won't hire if they see a single tatt, but, more and more companies ARE hiring people who have tattoos.
If you say so, I'm seeing more companies listing their requirements on their applications. If you are working with the public, image is still important to some..........
Actually, image is wayyyyy too important for an increasing number of people, whether they work with the public or not.

@Marp, you find the right tattoo artist to translate that & it would be gorgeous and believe it would hold up over time. I am not a tattoo fashionista nor do I have tattoos (call me a chicken) but have seen some that are well translated.
Those on people's face, not so much.. especiall when they have those metal gear things done..
I happen to like tattoos but not in excess. I had a beautiful black cat and would have loved her tattoo. But, it wasn't fashionable when I was young and too old now but as the skin changes, so will your tattoo. If your skin sags, it will as well and over time, it will get lighter. I have seen some old tattoos and not so pretty but I imagine, your look will depend upon how your skin ages. I am not an expert, jmho
No need to limit yourself, Green; no extra time is a given anyway.
There's plenty of places on the body where skin doesn't sag or noticeably change.
Like the inside of the wrist, the inner ankle, the inside of a finger, and more.
And age doesn't matter, unless you let others' opinions of you mean too much.
Just keep the tatt well-moisturized and protected with a high-SPF sunscreen.
Google black cat tattoo images for ideas; there are many rad designs of every size. 8)

BTW, tattos can just be meaningful text.
Like words, phrases, sentences, or paragrahs that are sentimental to you.
Or ones that resonate with you from a poem, play, book, or quotation.
Done in script or another unique font, they are really really cool.

I was on the interview panel where I worked and I would judge each candidate on their resume and answers to the questions presented. It should not matter if they have tatts and piercings. Where I worked there were many who dressed in a "professional" way and were worthless as far as getting the work done or done correctly. I had 2 workers with tatts and piercings and they were exceptional workers with the best work ethic.

@MaggieMack wrote:I read an interesting essay on this topic once. The author posited that young people do this to become members of a family, a clan, to feel less displaced in the world. Not getting enough love at home so they conform to the group that accepts them. I look at these young people differently now than I did, and try to express kindness whenever possible. Many of my dog's doggy daycare workers are pierced and tatted, and I love them because they show so much love to my dog. He loves them, too. Maybe that's what we should do, look at people through our dog's eyes and heart.
It's because anyone who is "different" in any way (exterior or interior) is often judged and shunned by fellow human beings, but always accepted by animals. ![]()

The eyes would be fabulous as a tatt. The solid black box I'm not so sure of. First of all, it wouldn't be as black as that looks. Secondly, it might look better if it were in an actual shape of a cat's head oer possibly just feathered out from the eyes in less of a geometric shape. To each his own I guess. I'd ask the artist for his or her point of view.
Marp
Just an idea: you could also have just the eyes (gold, green, amber, or blue) and whiskers; totally feline. ![]()
