Our local news just said he is in St. Joseph's Hosputal where he has a wing named after him. His family has flown in to be with him. No update on his condition, just that he is having respiratory issues.

So sad to hear this. I've admired Muhammad Ali for so many years. My thoughts & prayers go out to him his family.

News just reported that his family is by his bedside and funeral arrangements are being made. Sad.

I was sad to hear this all on the news also. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
I actually met Ali when I was young. He used to have his camp in Auburn PA and my Moms family had a huge farm and land up in Auburn.
We used to go to the camp all the time. When we met him he was so nice. (On tv of course he put on his gloves and had a different attitude when fighting and speaking back then). But he didn't talk like that in person. He spoke very kind, and didnt act "tough"
My Mom had his autograph and it was made out to her in her name with a few words and his signature. But, we never found it after Moms passing in 79, so I don't know what happened to the autograph.

I truly believe that Ali was without a doubt one of the very best boxers there ever was. His illness hopefully will fade and he will be returned to the best health possible for him. I must also add I have NO respect for him as a decent human being. His behavior about refusing to help this country - HIS country - in Vietnam is so wrong. Many of our people fought and died - my brother including - and how dare anyone do what he did. It was not right, therefore while I am sorry for his ill health, I feel no respect for him whatsoever. He did not have to change his name, join another religion and brag about it. But many died in many wars so people like him could behave as they did!

Many people were conscientious objectors then, he wasn't alone, and that wasn't the only American war that had them.

What a shame. He seems like such a sweet manThere might be a few out there that would say otherwise.

@sidsmom I don't care about his affairs, but I never forget a draft dodger, no matter how much time passes by.

Ali was known for his religious beliefs. Others like Rush and his friends were the draft dodgers.

Just because alot of people did it, it was right?
I'm sure there were many, many soldiers of many, many different faiths,
that fought over in Vietnam. A draft dodger is one thing, but using religion as a 'guise' to skip out? Just makes it worse.
