There are three pageants in the Mrs. America Pageant system:
Miss for America Strong
Mrs. American
Mrs. America
All three pageants are held at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The Miss for America Strong pageant was held this past Monday, August 26 and the winner was Jacklyn Drake, representing North Dakota. The Mrs. American pageant was held yesterday, August 27 and the winner was Heidi Stephens (pictured above) representing Washington state. The Mrs. America pageant (the pageant that Katia is competing in) is being held tonight. Hopefully the winner of Mrs. America will be announced soon - crossing my fingers for Katia.I think we're all rooting for Katia!
Just curious - what is the difference between Mrs. American and Mrs. America?
@beach-mom The Mrs. America Pageant was created in 1938. The pageant was an annual event before it ceased operations in 1968. In 1977, David Marmel and his wife Elaine resumed the pageant. Interesting fact - Mrs. America 1992 was none other than Dr. Doris Dalton, creator of Doll 10 Beauty; she represented Pennsylvania.
The Mrs. American pageant was created in 2019 as the Marmels felt it was not enough to only honor 51 women in one pageant. Therefore they created this second pageant, Mrs. American, to honor 51 more women.

Thanks for explaining @MissRose722! It's still a little confusing for me. They are basically the same pageant, with a very slight alteration of the name.
I always thought Miss America was the "gold standard" of pageants. I would always look for the picture on the front page of our newspaper of the new Miss America dipping her toes in the Atlantic Ocean the morning after she won! Of course I watched from the time I was young.
We watched Miss USA and Miss Universe too, but they weren't as interesting. Then there was Miss Teen USA, Little Miss America, etc. I haven't watched any of them in a very long time!
As I type this I hope Katia has won. But my track record was never good with Miss America. The young woman my mom and I thought should win usually came in 4th runner up!

I didn't know they still did beauty pageants.
What is the purpose, anyway? It seems so ... outdated.

Why so many?

@Tinkrbl44 I'm not sure why As my deepest delving into the world of pageants is the movie "Miss Congeniality" It's a fun movie.

I hope Katia remembers she's a lovely lady regardless of any beauty pageant results. We love ❤️ watching her on QVC!

@simplyfriends Thanks so much and your edited post looks good - and thank you for including the new Mrs. America 2024 Hannah Wise. Although I was also rooting for Katia, she indeed made a great effort.

Mary Beth Roe was a "Mrs. Minnesota." I don't remember what year.

Pageants have always been one of few ways for women to get in to TV journalism, or films. Looks count, so it's natural way for women to get in them.
