Perhaps the misunderstanding between Sylvia and Kalypso will be a catalyst for more understanding here of others' struggles (both from this board and in our ""real"" lives).

That's a really nice thought!

(((sylvia))) It's brave of you to share your story. We never know how recounting our experience might be exactly what another person needed to hear, for healing or for direction. I enjoy posting with you. It's also gracious of you to acknowledge in your post 49 that it's easy for us to misinterpret the written word, and to extend an apology.

In reading the other thread, I feel kalypso followed up on her initial post to elaborate and explain that the intention wasn't the negative one some felt it might have been. All of us know how it feels to write something with one intent and then to discover it could've been "heard" a completely different way by those who read it. I've said before I don't believe for a minute that the overwhelming majority of established posters here have the intent to hurt, to mock, to ridicule, to demean. I hope we all can be understanding and forgiving of one another.

I don't think it would occur to most people (including myself) not to post with someone who is a recovering alcoholic or anything else.

I love Tom Petty {#emotions_dlg.tt1} I really didn't expect nor intend this to become a long discussion. But if I came across as a sober woman trying to make my way into the rest of my life with Mr Sylvia (of 53 years), my best friend in AA (whom I met my first day through the doors) and who is celebrating 24 years tomorrow, my best friend of 40 years who has 4 years of sobriety, this is exactly who I am

My 40 year long friend is an artist. I write. My 24 year friend is a nurse. We make contributions. ....and the story goes on

I repeat...

The OP took a post "COMPLETLEY" out of context from another thread.

Softraindrop asked a question and I responded. There was no hostility between us. She posed a question and I answered. It was a friendly and courteous exchange. Pretty simple..,don't ya think?! But now the OP took a simple Q&A and turned it into something that it wasn't!

Dear OP,

At what point in that statement was I righteous? All I did was state my elation at never having to be at an AA meeting. It's the same elation I'd suspect many people who go to AA that have been sober for their first few months to many years would feel for resisting their addiction

The OP pulled my post into this junk. I don't believe I've even posted to this OP until today. UNBELIVABLE! {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}
