She says it was never intended to rip off consumers but for ins. co to pay for it. IMO - that is still a rip off - they are just ripping off ins. co. instead of individuals. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Who the heck does he think ends up paying the insurance companies in the long run? We do. And people shouldn't have to make extra arrangements to get a reasonable price.

This is one of the reasons my insurance PEIA is a mess!!! My premiums are going up $30 a month!!! I can't imagine how high the family plans will go up!! Thus the reasons why teachers and other schools employees work at least 2 jobs!! I'm so sick of working 2 jobs, and at one time 3. These greedy people make ma ill!

I think the REAL solution is for other drug companies to jump on the adrenaline pen bandwagon .... STAT.
If there's lots of competition, the prices for these pens will plummet. If the XYZ pharmaceutical company starts selling their own generic pen two pack for $40, what do you think the EpiPen company will be forced to do?
Unfortunately, they probably have a patent on this delivery system.
yep, it's the dispenser.
@nunya great article, thank you so much for posting this!
The FDA has become an unfortunate embarrassment but it is a symptom of a much larger problem . . . we need to get the money paid to lobbyists out of our business and away from lawmakers that are trying to hold on to their jobs. With a more level playing field I am hoping our representatives will concentrate on the task at hand and not be constantly looking for donations.

I'm pretty sure as we type insurance companies are trying to come up with ways how to not pay for it.

Interesting information, but there ARE other versions of the pen out there. Here's the Adrenaclick pen:
And I self inject a dose of Enbrel weekly, a biologic for RA, and they call it the Sure-click pen.
BUT ---- I also know that Enbrel comes in packages of pre-filled syringes ..... so why can't adrenaline come that way?
I will admit I have no idea what the differences in these pens might be, but I'm sure a smart medical device engineer could conjure up a new version of the pen that would pass muster for a new patent. JMO

When you are ripping off the insurance company you ARE ripping off the consumer…we are the people who have to pay the ever-increasing premiums that are used to pay for those ripped-off prices!
