Keep yourself young in spirit always by thinking new thoughts

and getting rid of old habits. Lord, may my spirit never become

frail and my abilities never become barren.

Scripture for the day:

"It is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance

of the foolish. As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not

use your freedom as a pretext for evil. Honor everyone." ~1 Peter

2:15-17

Meditation for the day:

Each new days brings an opportunity to do some little thing that will

help to make a better world, that will bring God's kingdom a little

nearer to being realized on earth. We can take each day's happenings

as opportunities for something we can do for God. In that spirit, a

blessing will attend all that we do. When we offer this day's service

to God, we are sharing in God's work. We do not have to do great

things.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that today I may do the next thing, the unselfish thing, the

loving thing. I pray that I may be content with doing small things as

long as they are right.

Hello my friends! Today I got a short email that Darla is home. Tonight I called her, and we both talked to her a long time. They drove through the night, after spending hours in New Orleans after getting off the ship, enjoying the views. She said they did a lot of walking around New Orleans. Slept most of the day, and they really enjoyed the trip, She even met a lady there who's a professor in Human Resources like she is, and her husband is an electrical engineer like Greg is, so they exchanged emails, and will keep in touch. They loved an excursion tour in Cayman Islands, and didn't take anymore because of the expense. There was a party for all the Honeymooners on ship, with free champagne and cake - she said that was fun! She was still sore but took pain pills and sleeping pills so she could sleep, and she did. It was so good to talk to her again and how they enjoyed the cruise, which was a great blessing. Deb, our friend from Church called this afternoon and asked if we'd want to go to Adoration with her and we did, and it was so nice and peaceful - to be in the room with Our Lord. It's a nice, small Adoration Chapel, and there was quite a few there. Tonight Lori comes home, praying that the Angels will keep her car warm enough to start so she can drive home, an hour and a half after landing at midnight. She has to call me when she lands, it's a good thing to know she's alright and she'll have to let us know, too, when she's on her way home. We plan to take Ollie there later tonight so when she arrives home he'll be there to greet her. Oh! Looks like I'm talking too much again!!! I'll stop here and ask you to share your blessings with us, and know that I'm praying for you all, and thanks for your prayers for us.

Remind Me God!

When I am lonely and Perhaps I feel despair,

Let not my ailing heart forget That YOU hear every prayer...

Remind me that no matter what I do or fail to do,

There still is hope for as long as I have FAITH in YOU...

Let not my eyes be blinded by Some folly I commit,

But help me to regret my wrong And make amends for it.

Inspire me to put my fears Upon a hidden shelf,

And in the future try not to Feel sorry for myself.

Give me the restful sleep I need Before another dawn,

And bless me in the morning with THE COURAGE TO GO ON

Prayer for Perseverance in Faith

Father, keep us from vain strife of words. Grant to us constant profession of the Truth! Preserve us in a true and undefiled Faith so that we may hold fast to that which we professed when we were baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - that we may have Thee for our Father, that we may abide in Thy Son and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Saint Hilary of Poitiers, Bishop and Doctor

As Jesus was baptized the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily shape, like a dove. And a voice came from Heaven.

"This Is My Beloved Son"

The Baptism of Jesus represents the inauguration of his public ministry-. As He enters the waters of the Jordan, He wins God´s approval and the Spirit is given to Him in abundance. Throughout His life, Jesus showed an extraordinary commitment to His ministry. Through our baptism we share in the ministry of Jesus. May the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus inspire us to live our baptismal commitment with courage and conviction

Personal Prayer

Lord Jesus, you did not need to be baptized You were always sinless. You were baptized like the others for our sake, to remind us that you had become one of us, and that just as the Spirit of God came upon you at baptism, so does that same Spirit come on each one of us at our own baptism.

You were anointed with divine power at your baptism. In the power of this Spirit you brought new hope to the human race. The power of God that was in you was mightier than the spirit of evil that causes sin, suffering and death. You have given all who believe in you that same spirit. You have told us not to fear, but to have courage to recall at all times that the Holy Spirit within us can do great things for us.

We thank you, Lord Jesus, for your baptism and for ours. Help us to really believe in our baptism and to live our baptismal promises.

Morning Prayer

Almighty and eternal God, you are high above us in the heavens, and yet you are so near to me. I know that you love me infinitely. I rest in your love; I find my strength and hope in you alone. Thank you for loving me despite my sinfulness and complete unworthiness. In return, I offer you my whole self, along with my intense desire to put you first in my life.

Jesus meek and humble of heart, make my heart more like yours.
