If you are not happy with what you have, how will you be happy with what you
want to have? Lord, may I appreciate the good things in my life and refuse
to
feel sorry for myself or compare myself to others.

Scripture for the day:

"Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been
revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him,
for we will see him as he is." ~1 John 3:2

Meditation for the day:

I can try to love all humanity. Love comes from thinking of every person as
our brother or sister, because they are children of God.
This way of thinking can make me care enough about them to really want to
help them. I can put this kind of love into action by serving others. Love
means no severe judging, no resentments, no malicious gossip, and no
destructive criticism. I means patience, understanding, compassion and
helpfulness.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may realize that God loves me. I pray that I in turn may have
love for all God's children.

Hello my friends! Nice relaxing Sunday - wonderful Mass - great homily -
nice visiting with people after Mass with coffee and donuts, afternoon he
watching football, I took a nap with Sammy, left over chili for supper - he
made breakfast of kritswurst and eggs, very filling! Good news is that we
heard that his brother, Ron, who had the stroke about a month ago, met with
his stroke doctor, and he's doing fine now - he's on one aspirin a day plus
lipridin for his chol. He's deer hunting this weekend. Thanks for your
prayers for him. Not much to say tonight, just that this thread is meant
from the very beginning to post our blessings which God gives us daily,
blessings that we take for granted most of the time, and posts to uplift
each other, with prayer support and love. My blessings today: My Faith, my
family, my Church Family, my friends, and my health. Keep Darla in prayer
for her health, always in chronic pain, and thanks for your prayers for us
always, and know that you are kept in mine.

A Prayer for Friends

Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now.
I am asking You to minister to their spirit at this very moment.
Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy.
Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence in Your ability
to work through them.
Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion, I ask You to give them
understanding, patience, and strength as they learn submission to Your
leading.
Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by revealing
Your nearness,
and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You.
Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage.
Where there is a sin blocking them, reveal it, and break its hold over my
friend's life.
Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders,
and friends to support, and encourage them.
Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them,
and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it.
I ask You to do these things in Jesus' name. In love, Your Friend.

You Will Never Be Sorry...

...for thinking before acting.
...for hearing before judging.

...for forgiving your enemies.
...for being candid and frank.

...for helping a fallen brother.
...for being honest in business.

...for thinking before speaking.
...for being loyal to your church.

...for standing by your principles.
...for closing your ears to gossip.

...for bridling a slanderous tongue.
...for harboring pure thoughts.

...for sympathizing with the afflicted.
...for being courteous and kind to all.

The Bargain

During one of the many Reformation battles, a young soldier found himself
and his army being soundly defeated by the enemy.
He and his comrades hastily retreated from the battlefield in defeat,
running away in fear of their very lives.

The enemy gave chase. The young man ran hard and fast, full of fear and
desperation, and soon found himself cut off from his comrades. The soldier
eventually came upon a rocky ledge containing a cave.

Knowing the enemy was close behind, and that he was exhausted from the
chase, he chose to hide there. After he crawled in, he fell to his face in
the darkness, desperately crying to God to save him and protect him from his
enemies. He made a bargain with God. He promised that if God saved him, he
would serve Him for the remainder of his days.

When he looked up from his despairing plea for help, he saw a spider
beginning to weave its web at the entrance to the cave.

As he watched the delicate threads being slowly drawn across the mouth of
the cave, the young soldier pondered its irony. He thought, "I asked God for
protection and deliverance, and He sent me a spider instead. How can a
spider save me?"

His heart was hardened, knowing the enemy would soon discover his hiding
place and kill him. Soon he did hear the sound of his enemies, who were now
scouring the area looking for those in hiding.

One soldier with a gun slowly walked up to the cave's entrance. As the young
man crouched in the darkness, hoping to surprise the enemy in a last-minute
desperate attempt to save his own life, he felt his heart pounding wildly
out of control.

As the enemy cautiously moved forward to enter the cave, he came upon the
spider's web, which by now was completely strung across the opening. He
backed away and called out to a comrade, "There can't be anyone in here.
They would have had to break this spider's web to enter the cave. Let's move
on."

Years later, this young man, who made good his promise by
becoming a preacher and evangelist, wrote about that ordeal.

What he observed has stood by me in times of trouble, especially during
those times when everything seemed impossible:

"Where God is, a spider's web is as a stone wall.
Where God is not, a stone wall is as a spider's web."

Face To Face With Jesus

A woman arrived at heaven's gate and met Jesus face to face. As he reviewed
her life with her, she could see every event just as clearly as if it were
happening right then and there. Looking at a time in her life filled with
sorrow, she asked him a question that had long been on her heart:
"Lord, look at my time of greatest trouble. I prayed and prayed but I heard
no word from you. I would have despaired had it not been for all the people
who helped me: the friends who listened and consoled, who brought me food
and understanding, who cried with me and stood by me, and my family who gave
me a reason to go on living. But why did you abandon me? Why didn't you help
me?"

"My child," Jesus answered,
"Why didn't you recognize me?"

O God my Father,
All hearts are open to you, all desires known, and from you no secret lies
hidden:
Help my memory to call to mind my sins,
My conscience to judge them,
My will to be sorry for them as offensive to you,
My plan to avoid them in the future and all the occasions of sin.

You have no pleasure in the death of the wicked:
Rather, let me turn my evil way and live.
I desire the grace to live as your adopted child,
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

"The next best thing to innocence is sincere repentance." Sir Walter Scott,
The Antiquary.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do
what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our
wrongdoing.

Mother Teresa Said...
Silence gives us a new outlook on everything.
We need silence to be able to touch souls. The essential thing is not what
we say but what God says to us and through us. Jesus is always waiting for
us in silence. In that silence, He will listen to us; there He will speak to
our soul, and there we will hear His voice.
