Maybe keep the kids under control and away from patients and staff. And then....after the medical appointment was complete....text her husband. That's probably what I would have done.
@chrystaltree This was in the examination room away from staff and other patients, the kids "were under control" until she was seen! She texted her husband because she went straight home and he picked up her prescriptions when he got off from work! No nanny to take care of the kids while she was sick!

She was diagnosed with a sinus infection and when she was getting her blood pressure checked the two year old took the opportunity to open the door and run down the hall. She was mortified and ran after her. Since it was an emergency visit, her in laws were an hour
away and would'nt have made it in time for last minute appointment.
During the visit as she had the youngest in a stroller and trying to keep the toddler quiet, she was texting her husband to let him know what was going on. How many would have assumed that she was texting nonsense?
@JaneMarple, hmmm...interesting word this "assume."
Yeah, that word makes an ****** out of u and me. I prefer to presume.

I admire your ability to stay open to possibilities and be objective, I try but am not always that charitable.
That said, I am annoyed when I see people with heads in phone or talking while kids left to fend for selves for length of time, There are exceptions and good excuses.
So, are you saying that the majority of parents leave their children to fend for themselves?

So many moms have it really hard. They hold down full time jobs ,and still have to take care of home and family. I really take my hat off to them. I had 2 in diapers, and stayed home to care for them, and still, I was so over whelmed when I was ill, I used to think it is a luxury for a mother to get sick..You just have to keep on trucking, no matter how bad you feel
@JaneMarple I hope the poor girl is on the mend

Sorry for using „fend for self“ expression. Don’t mean that being on phone means they are not getting any attention, but that perhaps they could be getting better attention.
@Twins Mom , you have nothing for which to apologize. Your words were twisted.

I think this has become an addiction for many people. I do have a cell phone but it's not a SmartPhone. Many times I'm the only person in a waiting room who's actually reading a magazine and not looking at my phone. There was a commercial awhile back where a very small child was telling his mother "phone down". Some people, including friends and family, have to post every darn thing they do, from their meal to who knows what. OK, I'm done with my mini rant now.

Not your circus, not your monkeys, not your business. People need to take care of themselves and their own business, not anyone else's. But then again, it makes some people feel superior and better about themselves to put down others without a clue as to what is going on with them and simply forming generalizations.
