"Tornadoes kill 24 in 100-mile path through Mississippi, Alabama"

Devastating tornadoes swept through parts of Mississippi and Alabama overnight, killing at least 24 people, injuring dozens more and wreaking severe damage. Wind gusts of up to 80 mph and hail the size of golf balls battered the state as the large twisters moved more than 100 miles, an  unusually long path.

They left behind destruction, reducing buildings to piles of wreckage in hard-hit areas. After overnight rescues, residents and officials were taking stock of the devastation Saturday morning.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency team was on the way to Mississippi, and Gov. Tate Reeves (R) declared a state of emergency. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA)  confirmed the death toll early Saturday, saying that at least four people were missing as of 6:20 a.m. and that the death toll was expected to rise."

Video footage taken Saturday morning showed widespread destruction after  tornadoes ripped through Mississippi.

A  severe weather outbreak across several southern states Friday evening and Saturday morning left at least 23 people dead in Mississippi.

Footage captured by camera drones show residential and commercial structures wiped out by the  lethal storms in Rolling Fork and Armory, Mississippi. That state's governor, Republican Tate Reeves, issued a state of emergency in all counties affected by the storm Saturday.

President Biden said Saturday he is offering "full federal support as communities recover," and that he has spoken with Reeves, the state's congressional delegation and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell."

@JoyFilled Warrior Fracking?  What on earth could tornadoes possibly have to do with fracking? I'm missing something here.

@JoyFilled Warrior

Fracking has been blamed for earthquakes, not tornadoes.

Re: Mississippi/Alabama Tornado- ?Fracking?

As @shoesnbags stated, fracking doesn't produce tornadoes.  Atmospheric changes, available cape, low pressure systems colliding with strong jet streams cause tornadoes.

All sorts of things have been blamed on fracking, but I don't think tornadoes is one of them.

Re: Mississippi/Alabama Tornado- ?Fracking?

Oh my gosh, this subject reminded me of a call in 2019, I believe, to one of our local TV stations.  They have a Talk Back segment with viewers calling in about stories and what not.

An older man called and said we never had tornaders, yes, tornaders until they put in traffic circles/roundabouts. The cars going round and round caused disturbances in the air, hence, tornaders.

Oh good grief. He was serious as a heart attack.  I guess the area around the Daytona 500 and Nascar races need to kept an eye on the sky.

They do get some doozies calling in.

Re: Mississippi/Alabama Tornado- ?Fracking?

Okay... starting to dig into more research abt this, seems "fracking" is far, far more complicated NOW, than it was before when I studied it

I have to dig A LOT more now!

There's so many more "qualifiers" now.

And seems this might be quite a differing view topic, than I thought before

So **NEVERMIND** my question, folks.   Thanks anyway!!
